Earlene Labassiere leaves Dominica to compete in Miss Humanity International

Labassiere

First runner-up of the 2011 Miss Dominica Pageant, Earlene Labassiere will vie for the Miss Humanity International title in Barbados as the pageant, which began in OCtober 13, continues through October 23.

Labassiere left the island Sunday ahead of the pageant, the sole objective of which is to raise awareness about humanitarian causes worldwide and which will feature 31 beauties from across the globe.

She adopted the Operation Youth Quake as her charity and her goal, she said, is to promote Child Safety and Abuse Prevention while representing the youth of her country

“I’ve adopted Operation Youth Quake, since I was competing in the Miss Dominica Pageant and Miss Humanity is a pageant which focuses on humanitarian causes and because I have a passion for children, I love children and I care about the future of children, I chose to take up the challenge and represent the children of my country through Miss Humanity,” Labassiere stated.

The beauty from Wallhouse also affirmed that she has been working hard in preparation and was ready and eagerly anticipating the competition and she’s been ably supported by her team including National Director of Miss Humanity Charlene White-Christian.

“I think that I can handle myself. It’s a pageant where you have no chaperone, but it’s a matter of being prepared and going there and doing your best. From the other pageants I have been in I’ve gained a lot of experience from. There are a lot of things that I have improved on. It’s about listening and having a great team. That’s what got me ready to go represent my country,” she asid.

The contestants will be judged in a number of categories which are: Best Talent, Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality – voted for by the delegates, Beach Beauty – health & fitness, Best Interview, Best Swimwear, Best Gown, Best National Costume and the People’s Choice Award – decided via online voting.

To vote fans must visit www.misshumanityinternational.com, click Dominica among the list of delegates and vote for Labassiere by clicking 10 stars.

In addition to the competition, the Miss Humanity International will be honor five outstanding women who have made contributions to human rights causes internationally.

This is good stuff. Why do we always like to see the beffy stories and not a young person doing something positive. And we wonder why when they get the chance to leave Dominica they do not return????? We should be giving hats of especially for the type of show that it is. Come on people!!

I’m not quite sure…sometimes I get the impression that she is the one wearing the crown….so much spot light for second position.

the reason for that is.. our reigning queen have not captured a spot in the pageants she have participated. We would not want to be disappointed again!!!!

Again the interview skills from reading this interview leave alot of room for questioning. I wish this young lady all the best in her persuit.

DNO question: Do you all edit the content of your reportings or you just report word for word sentence for sentence etc per the person you all are interviewing? Just a question

Be the best you can be.
Funny how we complain of young people doing nothing productive and when they do try, we shut them down with our negativity.
