New Executive Director of the Dominica Festivals Commission (DFC), Claudine Springer, has announced that 18 artistes will be revealed for the line-up of this year’s World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

She stated that the artistes will be named at the launching of the WCMF, to be held at the Anchorage Hotel, on Wednesday evening. “We’re going to reveal 18 artistes.”

“We’re going to reveal 18 artistes,” she noted.

WCMF 2015 was not held due to the effects of the Tropical Storm Erika which devastated sections of the island in August last year.

The launching ceremony will take the form of a cocktail and will be broadcast and streamed live on DDA and DFC portals, as well as the organizations’ channel on Youtube. The event will also be streamed regionally and internationally.

Springer remarked that the line up is comparable to anywhere in the region.

“Sometimes, in the past, you only announce two headliners, [but] we’re coming with a strong contingency of performers. That line-up is comparable to anywhere in the region right now,” she stated.

Springer expressed her excitement for the event, noting that the DFC will be “going big this year—all out.”

We will only quit when he goes. He hijacked the labour party for his own ends and I can never forgive him for that. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

More Sewo, while the country falls apart. I hope none of them become ill, while they’re in Dominica. Lord knows we have no hospital to treat them. I hope none of the additional visitors become ill while they’re in the Marigot area either or else they will “Really Sousay Sel for real.”

So it was not held last year due to the effects of the impact from TS Erika. I would want to think the impacts were both psychological/human loss and physical infrastructure/environmental. But what has changed since Erika. For many if not all the impact remains the, same or may have even gotten worst. But is sewo that’s Dominicans pastime so give them 18 Ministers oops sorry 18 acts/bands and they will be good to go regardless what the reality on the ground. Who cares!

Who is Claudine Springer? Never heard of her but that does not sound like a Dominican name. It would have been nice if someone in Govt. had annoiunced this new appointment and why they could not find anyone local.

What local? Is locals that have their underwears tied up in knots that cannot function effectively because everything is about a damn politics. Let somebody outside the box do the job.

Well, if you do not wear underwear it can not be tied up in knots.

Claudine Springer may be a well deserved candidate for the job but they sometimes do these sporadic appointment! Especially diplomatic ones; they just choose a foreigner because they have money, with ought making any publications for Dominicans at home and abroad to have a chance. What qualified Alison-Madueke and so many others over every other Dominican?
