The idea of controversial artiste, Tommy Lee Sparta, performing on the island is coming under more fire, this time from the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC).
On Friday DAEC made its opinion known in a release which said the organization expresses “deep concerns with the decision by a local business entity/promoter to invite entertainer Tommy Lee Sparta to feature at a planned concert.”
It is calling on organizers to review the decision for hosting the concert and is calling on all Dominicans to boycott it to send a strong signal “that we will not support anything that promotes violence and lawlessness in our beautiful country.”
“The lyrics of the music by Sparta promotes violence, a phenomenon that we are currently grappling with in our nation,” DAEC said. “The current pattern of crime and violence in Dominica is of significant concern and provides us with an enormous challenge that further inspiration in crime and violence is unwanted.”
According to the organization the artiste’s pseudonym, “uncle demon”, “is instructive and clearly speaks to the general persona of the individual. Why would someone assume such a name? The Scriptures are very clear on demonism and its attendant effects on individuals and nations. Do we therefore desire that persona to be delivering a message of violence to our youth and over our nation?”
“The Church is concerned about the immediate and long-term impact that such exposure may have on the young impressionable minds of our nation and may fuel the level of violence in a town that has seen tremendous challenges in that area over the past year,” according to DAEC.
The organization went on to say a group of pastors from the North/North East of DOminica has initiated a Prayer March through the town of Portsmouth carded for Sunday, February 9, 2014, against the entry of the artiste to Dominica and against the planned concert and its intent.
“The DAEC, in solidarity with the Pastors, calls upon all Evangelicals in Dominica to move in support of this March, as we stand against the powers of darkness and declare that Dominica is in the Hands of the Great God Jehovah who has rule over the Universe!” DAEC said.
The concert is expected to take place on February 16 in Portsmouth and main organizer, Cabral Douglas, has defended the decision, saying Sparta, whose real name is Leroy Russel, will send a positive message of upliftment.
“Hopefully the youth in Dominica and Portsmouth will be inspired by him,” he said.
Sparta was arrested in Jamaica earlier this week for allegedly being involved in a scam on that island.
Jamaican’s raw so the things they say comes out more inappropriate sometimes. Listen to Triple K and their lyrics. They rude just like Tommy Lee and Kartel! The churches are more demonic than some of the artist.They are hypocrites and they steal from the poor and build their big mansions and drive the most expensive rides. If they are people of god they would not judge him. Hope that all you that trying to keep him from coming has a clean heart. Please note that I am not a supporter of this man but is just entertainment.
You are a national and you are obligated to do your part and stand with those who oppose this man of even entering Dominica. Stand up and be counted! Play your part as a patriotic national. If you are on the side of God and what is correct to do, you should.

Today I thought the same. We are nearing the last days. Deviating a bit, I heard today Scotland has legalized so-called same sex marriage. Granted as in other countries, not all are pleased. I thought of Sodom and Gomorrah and what Our Almighty Father did to them and those who practice this abomination. I am overwhelmed that some politicians would vote for this abomination in their land and others will applaud it that they do not fear God and what could happen to them when they die; bad enough while they are living. Today we have many more disasters than we ever had. This accounts for it.
I said, God is patient that, when some other countries do likewise, this is when God will send down his fire and brimstones on the earth.
These people think it is normal to sing such ungodly songs as this man is doing. The organizers of the concert know fully well the type of person he is and what type of songs he sings yet they invited him to sing in Dominica. Shame on them. There is too much godlessness in the world and it is ever increasing. God help us all.

I agree with the church. I mean the man was just arrested for a scam. What message is that sending to the Dominican people especially our youths?
Toosense we need to be careful not to spread ignorance, whether you go to the show or not, the man was arrested but not CHARGED much less CONVICTED of any criminal offence…
It appears that those Dominican concert organizers who invited him do not care two hoots. All they think is the money they will make from the concert. I hope they are not church-going people. God will take care of them in time.
this event was advertise since last year october and the people of dominica made no issues about it. the problem is that we as dominican’s cant set our own trend and therfore we have to follow others trend. i am not a fan of his music and therfore i will not go to the event. but it is the people’s right to do as they please and thefore if they want or want not to go to the concert then it is up to them. there is evil existing among us everyday we worship, eat and laugh with them, so why dont we rally against them and their wicked act.
