Exciting Cultural Performance from Dominica to launch unique Web and Cinema Series.

A New Series designed to marry technology and culture in an effort to affect social change is set to launch on July 6th 2012.

Africa LIVE!HD is a series of web and cinema programming produced by African Image Media and the Black Chick Group and Media House. The goal of the project according to organizers is to leverage the cultural output from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe the Americas to produce spectacular web and cinematic events that contribute to building a global culture economy for people of African heritage while raising awareness and funds for key social issues.

Black Chick Group V.P. of Business Development Lucy Hamlet, believes that increasing accessibility to the internet provides an exciting and expansive playing field for artists, social organizations and business both here and in the developing world. “Africa LIVE!HD events aim to re-connect immigrant populations living in the diaspora to their land of birth. Through the presentation of unique cultural events (both from the land of their birth and their current home) in an accessible format we are able to connect that demographic with wholesome and meaningful entertainment that they can share with family and friends while helping to make a difference in their land of origin”.

She surmises that the business model for Africa LIVE!HD is designed to benefit all who participate.

The first event in the AFRICA LIVE!HD series will be an exciting cultural production titled VOICES performed by Dominica’s outstanding Sixth Form Sisserou Singers. The show will go LIVE from 7:00pm, with a Green Carpet Preshow beginning from 7-7:45pm.

Held under the distinguished patronage of the President of Dominica Dr. J.O Liverpool and his Wife, VOICES will webcast live from the Arawak House of Culture to worldwide audiences who will be able to watch live via Pay Per View on their personal computers.

The event is being co-presented by the Commonwealth of Dominica Ontario Association (CDOA). President of the Association Frances Delsol feels this is a wonderful opportunity to promote Dominica`s culture “The CDOA joined forces with Lucy on this initiative because we saw it as a great opportunity to promote one of Dominica’s jewels – the Sixth Form Sisserou Singers. Dominica, with its unparalleled natural beauty, boasts a number of world-class performers and the CDOA will always take a leading role in promoting all things Dominica in Canada.”

The webcast will raise funds for two charity organizations on the island namely CHANCES a home for abandoned and abused youth and Dominica Infirmary a home for the elderly and destitute.

In bright bold beautiful color, VOICES promises to take audiences on a musical journey through a diverse repertoire. In addition the show will feature a mini-folk musical created by Dominica’s award winning music arranger, composer and Chorale Director, Ms. Pearle Christian.

Christian states, “VOICES will showcase choral pieces in a variety of musical idioms including Western art music, Negro spirituals, American and Caribbean pop; the ‘Voices’ from different eras, allow the choristers and audience alike to develop an appreciation for cultural multiplicity.

Ms. Christian, also expressed her enthusiasm about the Choir’s international debut, “In our 18 years of existence, it has always been our dream to expose and share Dominica’s choral talents beyond our shores. “We are rehearsing hard to ensure that we present a highly entertaining package to all our viewers.”

Sponsors for the VOICES Webcast include LIME, Dominica News Online & The Dominican.net

Black Chick Group and African Image Media are currently in talks and finalizing other stellar productions to form part of the Africa LIVE!HD programming for the 2013 Season.

This was one of my worst viewing experiences ever. Not only did I end up paying twice to see the show, but there were constant streaming issues. I saw probably an entire minute of the whole show.
