After almost being shelved this year, the annual Feast of the Farmers (Fete Isidore) in San Sauveur will be held thanks to the intervention of the Good Hope and Petite Soufriere Village Councils.

The original church organizing committee of the feast had considered cancelling the event since it was not getting the required assistance.

But this is not going to happen and the signature event of the east will be held on May 24 and 25.

“We can’t let this feast die, we have to step up and we came together and all the church will be doing this year is organizing mass service. So it’s something different this year,” Chairman of the Good Hope Village Council, Archille Grove, told DNO.

There are number of events which lead to the the staging of the feast itself

On Saturday, May 16 there will be a Band Splash at the Prowl-In Disco featuring First Serenade Band, Virtual Band, Machine Creole and DJ Athie.

Entrance fee is $20 and all proceeds go towards the Catholic Church’s refurbishment.

On Saturday, May 23, there is a Big Fish night in Good Hope with Millennium Sounds at the Resource Center grounds

On Sunday 24, a Family Fun Day will be held and the highlight will be a grand football game.

On Pentecost Monday, May 25, mass will be held at the Roman Catholic Church in San Sauveur and an elder will be honored.

Following this there will be an exhibition of local produce, a cultural gala and three persons, one from Good Hope, Petite Soufriere and San Sauveur, will also receive awards for agriculture.

Entertainment will be provided by the Fanatick Band.

Also on the night of Friday, May 22 there will be a local DJ Contest at the Ashille’s Bar and Grill in Good Hope.

Three DJs will compete for about 20 minutes to be named the number one DJ in the east. They are DJ Pro from Petite Soufriere, DJ Plank from Good Hope and DJ Vibes from Castle Bruce.

Grove said the competition is to promote local talent.

DJ Athie, DJ Dchino and DJ Flip will provide further entertainment and Dominica Brewery and Beverages Ltd, Fine Foods Inc., Black Star Entertainment, Garraway Hotel, Old Stone Bar and Grill are among sponsors for the event.

Top prizes will be “attractive” monetary incentives, a night for two at the Garraway Hotel with either dinner or breakfast and a dinner for two at Old Stone Bar and Grill.
