For the first time, supporters and patrons of the Show Down Mas Camp calypso tent will help decide who will be named the Champ of the Camp.
This year a texting system, which will allow the general public to vote for their favourite Mas Camp performer for the season, will account for 40 percent of the final score which will go towards the Champ of the Camp decision.
The Bernard Georges Show Down Mas Camp, as the event has been dubbed this year, as a show of respect to fallen organizer Bernard Georges, will be launched on Friday.
“We are including the public in the judging system. We’re going to have a Mas Camper of the Night at every show. So every show will be a competition and the crowd is going to be the ones judging the Mas Camper of the night,” President of Mas Camp Pat Aaron told a Mas Camp media launch on Monday.
“On the final night the Champ of the Camp, the crowd is going to be responsible for 40 percent of the points and the other 60 percent by the judges. We do this to make sure that the crowd feel part of Mas Camp because Mas Camp is there for the people,” he stated.
The LIME texting system will be on going from this weekend to the end of the season.
Aaron additionally informed that gate prices will remain at $20 a night.
Meantime, headline sponsors LIME has pledged a $30,000 cash contribution with over $20,000 kind. Belfast Estate also gave $5,000 contribution. Another sponsor is the Dominica Brewery and Beverages Limited.

About whether and how much he was appreciated is left to the consciences of the Mass Camp members and have little to do with whomsoever it does not concern.
