Nine year-old Jeanelle Phillip of the Grand Fond Primary School has captured the 2016 Mademoiselle Francophonie Title.

Phillip, who represented Ghana, outperformed five other contestants to win that competition held at the Arawak House of Culture on Saturday night.

She also received the awards for Best Francophonie Wear, Best Oral Presentation, Best French Fashion and Best Talent.

“I feel excited and confident, I didn’t know I was going to win,” Phillip told reporters shortly after being crowned.

She said her family and teachers helped her prepare for the competition.

Leilanie Leslie, a student of the Massacre Primary School who represented the country of Togo, secured the first-runner up position.

Simone Moses of the Morne Jaune Primary School who represented Monaco, received the second runner-up spot.

The award for Best Francophonie Spirit went to Adessah Hodge of the Wotten Waven Primary School. She represented Djibouti.

Malicia Francis of the San Sauveur Primary School captured the award for Miss Personality while representing Mozambique

The other contestant was Jadian Eustache of the Castle Bruce Primary School. She represented Suisse(Switzerland). Eustache was the only contestant who did not perform in the talent round of the competition.

Last year’s winner was Jeraine Joseph.
