“Hamlet” premiere moved to Sunday

hamletThe Dominican Premiere of the world famous play “HAMLET, Prince of Denmark” by William Shakespeare will now take place on Sunday September 7 at 7 o’clock at the Arawak House of Culture and not on Saturday, September 6 as was previously announced.

Dominica is one of a few select Caribbean countries included in the Globe to Globe Tour by Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Company of London who have undertaken a two-year world tour of “Hamlet” to mark the 450th Anniversary of the birth of Shakespeare.

This is the first professional theatre company to perform in Dominica in over 50 years and the first time that this much acclaimed play will be performed here since it was written in 1599.

A multi-racial cast twelve actors and four crew members come from several different countries but reside in London where the new Globe Theatre is located.

“Hamlet” is regarded as Shakespeare’s finest play.

It has been studied by students around the world over the past four centuries for its blend of humour with truthful portrayals of human nature.
