IN PICTURES: Alkaline creates excitement in Roseau

IMG_4968

Controversial Jamaican artiste, Alkaline, created much excitement when he visited the Digicel store on Great George Street in Roseau on Friday.

The artiste is expected to perform at a show at Samaan Park in Canefield on Saturday.

His coming to Dominica created much controversy on the island when the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) sought to prevent him from performing on the basis that his music promotes violence and demonic activities.

But that did not stop scores of screaming and squealing fans from converging on the Digicel store to catch a glimpse of the man who has been making headlines in Dominica for weeks.

Was the show on Saturday or is the show today, Monday? I haven’t read anything about the show? I thought it was on Saturday. How was the attendance and his performance? Are the promoters happy with the show? Were the patrons satisfied?

I don’t care a s..t for Alkaline Thomas but they are good questions. PS. I hear the old folks in Canefield are still trembling from that torture imposed upon them and making up for the sleep they lost.

They no doubt advertised it throughout the island. It was their intention that all the youths knew about his visit.
They make this man think he is more important than the most important person in D/ca.
When he returns, let us see/hear what he has to say about Roseau of all, its condition and the people whom he especially met and others he saw. As I stated, we will hear more.
May he not rejoice but humble himself for one day his day will come.
This passage is quite appropriate – Matthew 5.45 – He makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
Any friend of God is a friend of mine. His lyrics are ungodly. If his words were godly and becoming, in my estimation he would be welcomed.
Looking at his picture, it is revolting; not worth looking at. If he did not tattoo his entire body and his eyes (what a shame) he would be appreciated.
Man, since you were allowed in, perform and leave Dominica, our Christian country.

    • Gabby
      May 4, 2015

Why would anyone want to perform or live in a ‘Christian country?’ That phrase suggests non-Christians are unwelcome. This is completely against the principles of religious freedom and equality for all. Take your fascism back to the days of the Nazis.

Boy I feel bad for the future of my country, GOD help us.

    • The Facts
      May 4, 2015

The problem in any country, to mention a few, there are all types of people, the good, the bad and of course, those who also have a mind of their own. Some will obviously oppose and others will concur. However, we must all try to get along.
We do and say what we have to, especially when we deem it necessary. After all is said and done, we leave the rest to God who knows, sees and hears all things and who rewards the good and punishes the wicked. This is our consolation.
God will not come down and punish those who hate him, who sing against him and who exalt his enemy, Satan, also the enemy of our souls. God is patient, awaiting the appropriate time, to mete out his just punishment which will come sooner than they expect. For now, the promoters, those types of artistes and supporters can exalt but their day will come.
Those who tried to prevent it, also through their comments, have done their part, their best and console themselves that they have done well.

Alkaline sings in one of his songs, “be proud of who you is”(sic)…The grammar is poor but the message is clear…Dominicans are not proud of who they “is”…

    • The Facts
      May 4, 2015

He knows who he is singing to; not your average people. It all depends on the type of pride. There is good pride and there is bad pride. False pride comes before the fall. False, disobedient and stubborn pride brought Satan down to the abyss.
He is not offering anything concrete to them. What he stated is, no matter what you are be proud of it, remain there and do not change. This is nothing to elevate and enhance them.
Who are the sensible people who would follow his advice? The man is not a good example and a good model to emulate. These things have their people.

Google, “Alkaline tattoos eyeball” Read for Yourself. See for Yourself.

Alkaline did not tattoo his eyelid, but his eyeball. Explain that kind of excruciating pain that an artist could, would inflicted on himself.

Imagine Dominica’s best calypsonian, with immaculate voice, talent, singing songs that educate, that chant down oppression, corruption and express the struggles of the people, their way of life, love for country, forced to sing old road march songs at the 2014 WCMF. The authorities didn’t want King Dice to sing about the issues affecting Dominica at the WCMF. They did not want the world to hear, “It’s time for change and other lyrically positive calypsos.

You hear the Cabal and their ilk claim,”Too much politics in Calypso. A section of society is more scared of the positive lyrics of calypso, than the songs, lyrics of Alkaline.

Would the authorities force Alkaline not to sing what he wants to sing?

    Our Calypso, Cadence, reggae songs…

    • The Facts
      May 4, 2015

But they will allow people as this artiste to sing satanic songs and some of revolt against society. God will deal with them someday.
Alkaline is not a smart person to tamper with his eyes. I do not know how he had the urge and boldness to do something like that. Our eyes and eyesight are precious and should be treated accordingly. In time to come that tattoo may blind him. He may develop some bad eyesight problems.

      • The Facts
        May 4, 2015

So far he is fortunate he has not commenced having eye problems.

For the week we have number of freak accidents even claiming life, hearing from someone in St.Kitts they had similar activities before he came to the island, , can’t u ppl see something is wrong, we may not see the spiritual world and what goin on but i strongly believe this has to do with alkalin fella, for u his fans don’t think because he come u all have won, cause u all hv not the prayers which went up to God did not go in vain,we must not be ignorant of spiritual things, having his music played at ur homes etc is not same as inviting him into the island, but then wat we born again believers (christians) can do is keep prayin without ceasing

  21. May 1, 2015

Wish you all would embrace your own . You treat yours like dirt and uplift those who don’t see you all and your culture as anything . This is the height of ignorance in our country . I big up Michelle an internationally and well respected Dcan artiste , benji , Nayee , Dice , Delly , Ra and others who give you better and quality performances than people who give you pieces of songs and board with your daily bread following morning laughing at you .

You really cannot close the stable gate while the horses are on the loose.
With this kind of frenzy you can expect to see alkaline back in Dominica next election ,while the pastors lick their wounds. Take your political money and go pray pastors. Good for you…

Oh Dominica, my true confession, what is wrong with my people?
This is unbelievable thanks to the pastors, the government, Skerrit and the media.

    • The Facts
      May 1, 2015

It shows how ungodly they are. If it were Our Lord Jesus Christ visiting, I wonder how many would be present and give him such a greeting? God took note. Pray for those youths.
Respectable parents would not allow their children out there unless they went without their approval. They have too much free time. In years gone by this would not have happened and none in their school uniform. I hope some were only there out of curiosity.
