The National Cultural Council and the Division of Culture in collaboration with the Discover Dominica Authority and The Portsmouth Town Council, hosted on Tuesday evening the annual Ole Mass and Sensay Festival in the town of Portsmouth.
The festival featured a variety of traditional carnival bands including sensay, bann mauve, stilt walkers and lapo kabwit.
The festival is held in a different community every year.

Just thought of something. Have you read the book entitled, “Black Like Me?”
very beautiful, I wish all are peaceful and inccident free carnival.
They are like Trinidadians. This must be something recent, a few years for Dominica.
I once visited T & T at Carnival time. We went to the Jou Ouvret. It was an experience, seeing how some of them darkened their skin. We were standing on the corner watching the bands go by. Some of them who were behind the bands came after us. We ran away from them. We did not want them to dirty our shirt and slacks. I vowed, never again to go to Port-of-Spain at that time unless sitting on the stand.
Portsmouth People, where is the contribution to culture and mas Domnique 2017. I didnot see a lapo cabwit band neither sensay custume coming from the second town. where is the love for country and culture, where is the love for patriotism. Portsmouth People can do much better than that.
