IN PICTURES: Opening of Carnival 2019

Carnival 2019, with the theme, a “Sizzling Explosion,” opened with a grand national parade on Saturday, Januray 19. According to DFC Events Coordinator, Marva Williams, the event included elements of colour, pageantry, calypso, costumes, traditional ole mass “and all the little elements that make up our carnival.”

Below are some photos of the opening parade. Photos by Roy Sanford.

Skerrit NEEDS to go. He is a liability to this country.

Dno, I am surprised you moderators allowed the first two comments. Totally off-topic. I’m not trying to infringe on anybody’s right to comment, but I thought this was one of your rules…to stay within topic. The first two comments are purely political and in no way comments on the photos themselves. One set alone all you bad for, I get it.

ADMIN: Thank you for your feedback. We see that is a fair point – except the implied assumption about our bias. We have removed the off-topic comment.

It’s going to be a very difficult time for Dominica. Carnival officially opened and Mr. Skerrit going to dessolve parliament tomorrow, with elections carded for March 4, 2019. Did Skerrit not say during a DlP meeting at Wesley, that if the people voted uwp ‘the blood of the people’ would be on them? With elections during carnival sounds like a good atmosphere for blood. But I don’t believe Skerrit would be so careless to announce an election during carnival, except he really smells defeat and therefore using the carnival to instill fear, panic and subtraction

This is far from the truth my dear. Please don’t use politicals to spread slander and rumors. It simply makes your political party seem unreliable. Plus, it is simply distasteful that both you and Mr. LAST Chance below would post these such of messages under a post where foreigners would most definitely come snooping for what is going on during our carnival season.
I always and will continue to repeat that when we are doing our duties to our political parties in ensuring a win for the public purse, please be careful of the image and impression that you are setting for the international community of the country and its people.
