IN PICTURES: Save Our Children Concert

A fundraising concert to help in the fight against the growing problem of child abuse and to enlighten the public as to how Crime Stoppers Dominica can be used to report such crimes, has been hailed a success. The well-attended event, which was held aboard the Free Winds Cruiseship, was hosted by Michele Henderson and featured a number of talented, well-known Dominican singers and musicians as well The Free Winds Band.

Below are some photos taken at the event courtesy of Zaimis Olmos Visual Arts.

I wonder if any of these people attending have openly voiced their disapproval. I suspect not. None of them and mean none of them have that kind of civil courage. Instead they come together for a bit of bling-bling in the believe that they have done their bit now.

REALLY? All of a sudden concert for kids when they are ignoring and denying the child abuse allegations? Only in Dominica.

  6. It is a lot of work to put together an event like his and pull it off!

I congratulate both the planners and the workers. Thank God for the artists and all who contributed. It was reported a success. This means you achieved your goals. You have pushed forward a cause that is near to the heart of this father and grandfather.

Loved the pictures. The colors are so Dominican. Beautiful people; parents and children.

My prayer is that God will keep the little ones safe and guide their young lives.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. :-P

Judging from the photo here, one would think Dominica is devoid of dark complexioned people. Or is it that they tend not to attend these functions or the photographer has an affinity for lighter skinned people?

My brother, that’s because the venue was on the Free Winds Cruieseship and Michele Henderson was the host. How many of us take a cruise?

      Zandoli, cool out!

I am happily dark skinned, was at the concert and enjoyed it to the max but so glad that my picture is not up there. I love my privacy and take extra steps to protect it. Besides, I think the photographer’s work is balanced. She got everyone who is accustomed to being in the spotlight and also those who are usually photographed when out in public. She respected the signals of those who did not want to be photographed.

this is just the type of uninformed narrow mindedness that keeps Dominica just where it is, behind the times.
Please look at all the photos, everyone of all shades are reflected. The show is held on the ship, Freewinds. It is not the first such concert, its annually, the ships captain graciously and generously allows Ms Henderson to have concert when the ship is in port….. to raise funds for charitable causes. This photographer does great work covering numerous events around Dominica………what is your comment when she covers some events and all photos are of ‘dark skinned’ people??????? SMH………why comment when you don’t have all the facts and jump to conclusions?
