Miss Dominica Jacinta Fagan managed to grab the second runner-up position in the 2011 Miss Caribbean World competition held at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall in the British Virgin Islands last night.
Fagan also won the Best Evening Wear and Miss Photogenic titles in the dazzling competition that left the audience in awe and was worthy of a standing ovation.
The title of Miss Caribbean World 2011 went to Sudeakka Francis of St. Kitts while the first runner-up position went to Shellya Rogers of Anguilla, who was also titled Best Intellect.
The 2010 Miss Caribbean World title was held by Dominican Marcia Baptiste.
yes people out of all the ladies that represented Dominica is she the first to not take that crown? Jacintha you did your best next time u will hold them. Alas even the way they gave the news makes it look like she is the first we know how to break somebody down in that country eh. How many have what it takes to even go up there and say your name. Admin this should be rephrased, maybe something to the extent of removing completely “THE DAZZLING COMPETITION” and focussing on Miss Fagan who obviously was the PERSON and not THING to leave the audience in awe. If it was her dress that was dazzling you can state that too

The one in St. Kitts and Nevis is very interesting the one peice and two peice swim suit competition in St. Kitts July 23 followed by Talent evening wear and onstage interview in Nevis July 25.

That sounds interesting and it is a shame no body ever post segments of those pageants on ‘Youtube’ which is kind of ironic with all the technology around these days.

this is my problem with my people we don’t know how to move on,and support our people don’t matter what.she has a few more pageants to participate in give her a chance,and help support her and cheer for her. don’t matter what no ones want to make a fool of them self. so she will do her best.

Miss Fagan did her best. At least she placed. She clearly can stand head to head to some of the queens we had over the past few years. I don’t expect too much from her in the regional pageants so placing in this one goes far beyond my expectation. Hope she can grow from strength to strength.

Please be reminded that Miss St Kitts 2009/2010 is the one who represented that country in this show. She was 1st runner-up in Ms Carival 2010, ahead of Miss Dominica 2010 and 2nd runner-up in Miss Jaycees with Miss Dominica 2010 (Marcia Francis) winning the title then. That’s just how pageants work. Congratulations Jacintha on securing a place in your very 1st regional pageant! Just remember to give it your best shot everytime. There can only be one winner.
I know right! But why would they not send the reigning queen of St Kitts 2010/2011?
It is just not one of the scheduled shows on the reigning queen’s agenda for the year. Last year, the young lady who represented St Kitts was a former queen from a few years back. She practically got her own sponsorship to participate. There is nothing strange about that as it relates to St Kitts participation in that particular show.
Good question and I thought I had recognised her from the Miss Jaceeys last Summer when I visited with some of my friends and saw the show.
How ironic is this and that would lead me to believe there perhaps is some sort of internal politics going on and the may not have been able to find a representative.

That’s so true. Also the girl who represented Jamaica was the 2008 miss Jamaica world not the reigning miss Jamaica.
Therefore in St.Vincent, St.Kitts and Antigua, Miss Dominica Jacintha will meet a new set of ladies
who she will do battle with in all these countries.
It has been said that some of the islands like Trinidad & Tobago & Jamaica, then to send girls who either placed 2nd or 3rd place in some of their pageants to the lesser pageants, just so they have a delegate.
However, if you follow their structure meticulously you will see that when they choose one girl for ‘The Miss World Pageant’, one for ‘The Miss Universe Pageant’, one for the ‘Miss Caribes Hibiscus Pageant’ and others for the lower rated regional pageants, so the person who actually won the title in those island may not necessarily be the representative in all the pageants.
I know how that would go down in DA, as people will be up in arms and began enough row-row. lol
clearly in the Miss dominica pageant they did not want the intellectual and talented person to place and furthermore win. Best in evening wear and miss photogenic can only take someone so far. A revision in how the winner in the local pageant needs to be done. Best talent- Michelle Joseph, Miss Inteligence- Michelle Joseph. A pretty smile is nt all.

i am not a dominican but i watched the show and i have judged regional shows. beauty is important… but not that important, in the swim wear round: we look for muscle tone and fit of the swim suit not big and Cellulite filled legs. i am not saying that Miss Fagan did not deserve her crown, but for the regional shows she has to come a lot stronger because is the same girls that just beat her, she will meet again.
i agree with Anonymous..i am a proud dominican and Michelle wouldnt represent me at all…number one, her talent was not even flowing..CRAM CRAM CRAM…in pageants you have to flow..number 2, she wasnt looking attractive in the swim wear..number 3, the costume was carrying her….All of the girsl had their faults but Jacintha was the most consistent! this is what matters..no use crying over spilt milk..best wishes to her in her future shows!

okay the girl that one got the two awards that michelle got….think a little here…if michelle was our representative, then it is possible that the girl that won would have still gotten the best talent and miss intelligent award, since both would be competing for that category, leaving michelle with no awards……but jacinta got 2 awards……..all in all…we cannot assume and predict and say if and iff…..deal with the current situation

I was at the show and I must say kudos to the young Lady. The final decision is left to the judges and I respect that, however I must say you did very well Jacintha. I absolutely enjoyed your talent and costume segment. If you get to read the blogs, don’t be discouraged by negativity keep your head up. You made me proud!

I did attend the show, the show was ok but the competition was tight, Dominicans just be grateful she didnt come home empty handed she was fantistic on stage but like i said the competion was tight especially with St kitts and Anguilla. Congratulations Jacintha you did your best you were great on stage best of luck in your next competion.

And for those of us who were in D/ca and could not see the show, DNO could have given us a little more descriptions. If you don’t know DNO, ask somebody! That is what journlaism is!
