Days after the Discover Dominica Authority announced via its social media account that the annual Jazz ‘n Creole event which had been scheduled for May 20, 2018 will not be hosted as scheduled, DNO has been reliably informed that it will be taking place.
Sources told DNO that preparations for the festival have kicked back into high gear at the Dominica Festivals Committee.
DNO understands that a formal announcement will be made to the media later on Tuesday.
The festival mainstage is held annually at Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park.
First introduced in 2010, the event has become a staple of Dominica’s festivals calendar.
Since its inception the festival has grown, attracting locals and visitors alike. It has also attracted increasing interest from renown regional and international artistes wanting to perform at this exclusive event.
Additionally, the tourism sector benefits greatly and it adds to the overall flow of revenue into the island’s economy.
The event will be held on the originally-announced date, May 20.
Well said Pedro!!
Papamet, off then on….Those people showing their incompetence badge with pride now. Dominica has really become a pappyshow …
I think they earned it
This is so very unprofessional! If however the Event is to be held this year at least schedule it for the end of July when perhaps persons can plan to bring their family durring the summer . This would give persons time to plan accordingly.
The DFC the DDA and the entire Ministry and Minister of Tourism need to get their act together . This cancelling and scheduling and cancelling and rescheduling is unacceptable. People deserve more respect and Dominica’s tourism product is suffering at your hands!!!
What changed? Skerrit not going to have his election around that time again? Make up your mind.
wait , they might cancel it next week….
It is all well and good to vacillate on whether the event will take place if you are targeting resident Dominicans. However, if you are also targeting a foreign audience, you need to give people sufficient time to plan their vacation and make adequate travel arrangements.
I am not sure why this is rocket science!
Excellent. This is one of the classiest, safest events in Dominica which attracts all ages and artists and visitors from the region and beyond.
Agree, beats bouyon any time.
Perhaps these events should be local invites only, who can come and go at a whim. We can’t blame this type of planning, bad and bad PR on the hurricane. Even before the storm the events details was always at the last minute. How do you expect to attract foreign based visitors with such whiplash planning or lack thereof. Now we want it for three days, then we cancel, wait its still on. Jokers! Love my country but its no way to treat patrons or potential visitors. Get your act together! By the way its perfectly acceptable to skip this year. Why force it if we are not ready physically or otherwise?
now i am back to being disappointed.
