Convent High School student, Kiyanna Dyer has won the title of Miss Teen Dominica for 2019.

Kyanna beat five other contestants to secure the top position at the event which was held at Carnival City on Sunday afternoon. On her way to the title, she won the awards for Best Speech, Best Talent, Best Spectacular Creation, Best in Spectacular Creation, Best in Evening Wear and Miss Photogenic.

First runner up is Olani Coipel of the Pierre Charles Secondary School and Tyra Holsborough from the Orion Academy who placed third (2nd runner up) won awards for Miss Amity and Best Response to Question.

Miss Teen Dominica flanked by the 1st and 2nd runners-up.

    I also congratulate Kiyanna Dyer and agree with Ika and Observer, that the makeup artist’s attempt – presumably to match the eye shadow to her costume – didn’t work.

    However, if we assume that makeup is an art, then like all art forms that are truly creative, risk is involved. In my work as a painter and sculptor, in trying to go beyond the norm I sometimes fail. I can therefore sympathize with the makeup artist’s attempt to try something different.

    Having said that, I am not a lover of makeup per se. True beauty lies in keeping hair and skin tones natural.
