Miss Dominica 2013, Leslassa Armour-Shillingford, has won her second regional pageant in three days.
Armour-Shillingford beat eleven other Caribbean beauties to win the Miss Caribbean Culture 2013 which was held in Nevis on Monday night.
According to her chaperone, Carla Armour it was a close competition and Leslassa was able to edge out Ms. St. Kitts/Nevis by 13 points to win.
Despite winning only one award, for Best Interview, Leslassa was able to win the clinch the title with a consistent all round performance.
St. Kitts took the first runner-up position and St. Croix placed second runner-up.
This most recent win takes to three the tally of pageant titles which Armour-Shillingford has won so far.
In addition to Ms. Caribbean Culture, she holds the titles for Ms. Carival and Jaycees Quueen.
Lesslasa you did it again. I predicted it would have been an easy walk. You noticed few comments, trust Dominicans….
Continue to believe in yourself and you will succeed in life. Put the the doubting Thomases to rest.You have thte talent and ambition.
I would have loved to see you take on the Miss World or Miss Universerse title but we know how difficult it is too enter such with the various rules and regulations. Could somebody give it a try. Lets see how well can Dominicans respond to give you that push.

She has creamed Nadira, Marcia and Nakita (who won Ms Dominica plus 2 regional crowns each during their reign) to joing the ranks of Marah and Leandra (who coveted the Ms Dominica title plus 3 regional crowns each). WOW……My heartfelt congratulations to you Leslassa and I had a feeling you’d continue to do exceedingly well in your 4th regional pageant. 3 out of four isn’t a bad ratio at all and in fact many who were at the “Miss Caribbean World” reckon you should have won the that title as well.
Still you showed them what perseverance really is about and kept focused, continued to tenaciously work at every aspect of your presentations, and now how the last laugh…….natural talent generally has a way of soaring despite detractors or hurdles placed during the journey, which has also been the case with so many other delegates in the past who also soared to new heights as well.
I guess the next stops should be either of the following world renowned international pageants, as you’re so ready to represent our lovely “Nature Isle.” “Miss Universe”, “Miss World” and “Miss Earth” here comes Leslassa!
COC/CQC/Ministry of Culture need to collaborate together to open an account/pay pal facility, so that Dominicans like me can contribute my £1 towards getting Leslassa to represent us in those international pageants, as was sensible suggested by a few people last week and years before this.
I really think we can do this for ourselves as a people collectively and send Leslassa to represent the island at these pageants.

Well well done Leslassa. You are indeed one of the best. These days everyone seems to be naming the ones who win regional pagaents as the best. That’s not true. Leslassa has something charming about her plus she is talented and sweet. Very endearing quality which will take her a long way. Last years queen for example wasn’t talented, just lucky so she shouldn’t be discused as one of the best. Watch her local performance and judge yourself. No offence intended just drawing a point.
Also we had some good queens in the past only that queen show in the early 90’s were very unsupported.
I believe a lot of the younger generation only knows the ones of their era so maybe the TV stations should start playing all the queen shows from the 80s and 90s. I for one can’t remember most of our past queens so that would help. That will allow people so appreciate all the hard work the past Miss Dominica’s have gone through and not just a select few. People will see for themselves that many were far better talented and intelligent than the few who won more regional pagaents than them.
I find it totally unfair to be naming best based on regional crowns. Leslassa yes, but many of the others no. It aslo depends on who they competed with. Sometimes you have good bunch of girls sometimes you have weak bunch. Be objective people.
Queens long ago were not advantaged only a few were cherry picked by the committee because they were from Roseau and more effort and help was given to them like the Marcella’s etc, helping them to perform better. Not because they are were better on stage or more talented than any of the other queens of their times.
Bravo Miss Dominica. keep your feet on the ground and stay humble. We are proud of your accomplishments.
