LIME’s twelfth annual Creole in the Park will be held from October 27th to 30th, 2014.

Patrons and visitors have been inquiring about the date of the biggest daytime event during Dominica’s independence celebrations, following an announcement by the Discover Dominica Authority that the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) would be held a weekend earlier than usual this year.

LIME’s General Manager Jeffrey Baptiste says the company’s flagship event, Creole in the Park, will remain in its usual slot during the traditional creole week.

“We consulted with the relevant offices including the National Cultural Council and the Discover Dominica Authority and agreed that this year’s Creole in the Park will be held from Monday the twenty-seventh of October,” Mr. Baptiste confirmed.

This means that Creole in the Park will follow the WCMF this year, and the LIME General Manager says it is expected to be another exciting and memorable four-day presentation of Dominica’s Creole food, music, art & craft and culture.

The LIME Creole in the Park is a family oriented activity which brings all things Dominican in one central location at Dominica’s scenic Botanical Gardens in Roseau.

The event runs over four days from 12 noon to 7 pm daily.

“Patrons can anticipate exciting performances and great offers from Dominica’s leading full service provider during this year’s 12th annual LIME Creole in the Park,” organizers say.

While there is so much excitement over 10 to 11 days of partying from October 23 to Nov 4 I focus on the CITP. The Botanic Gardens was never intended for that CITP kind of activity but a place of relaxation and green tranquility. The Botanic Gardens is not a park was never called a park until Lime decided to abuse this valuable resource and call it a park for their own selfish purpose to give four days of additional sewo and to gain advertising advantage they call it a park. Some are even calling for one more day. Why not the Pottersville , Goodwill, Canefield or Newtown savannahs. When it comes to sewo few seem to care what image is destroyed and certainly not Discover Dominica. Many in the crowds who come to the CITP only know the Gardens exist at that time and no other. I have seen no real benefit to the Gardens from Lime to make it more attractive over the years or will someone please point out any.

Well the promoters in Dominica have to make the best of that weekend after CITP. Bring down some big name artists or bands and allu banking big time. Me, only 10 days vacation I will have papa, so it look like only CITP and jump-up for me.

friday will be creole day so it may be a good idea to end on thursday as creole day fallls withing independence activities. schools have parades and it would be good to allow the restaurants to do a little business on that day. 4 days in the park is enough…

Personally, I think this makes no sense to have this event so early. Just keep it the other week and add Friday to it also.

Another assault on Dominica’s Botanical Gardens is in the works. Is this a Botanical Gardens or a public park? We should seek out the meaning and objectives of a Botanical Gardens. Poor Botanical Gardens, caught up in Dominica’s telecoms war with no respite in sight. The managers of the Botanical Gardens lack any serious backbone

Ignorance will get us nowhere. You do know that some of the monies collected does go back to that restoration of the gardens after the event right! They don’t just use the area and roll out in the end. They actually give back to restore the gardens. Question to you: Where do you think it should be held in the future?

Hold it in the stadium an so there is no need to damage the garden and use the money to pay rent instead. The Govt. can use that money for the upkeep of the stadium. The stadium is almost next to the Gardens anyway.

They need the friday to clean up all you mess! This is a botanical garden not a a friggin fair ground. Nobody cares about heritage anymore, Is all about instant gratification. Go and have your Creole in the park somewhere else , put it in front of the palace for all I care.
