Telecommunications company LIME Dominica today pledged its commitment to the further development of Dominica’s culture and its young people by officially signing on Dennison “Dice” Joseph as a LIME artist.

Manager of LIME Dominica Jeffery Baptiste made the announcement today at the Dominica Festival Committee’s weekly carnival press conference.

Meantime, the four-time calypso king applauded the move by the company and encouraged other business houses to follow the example displayed by LIME to invest in the youth.

“I would like to give special thanks to LIME for making such a big step. I hope other companies take heed. LIME has lent their support to me…and I am happy. I also want to let LIME know that I expect 100 percent from them because they can expect the same thing from me,” he said.

Congratulations to Dice and thanks to LIME for taking the initiative to invest in a young talented male from Dominica. Dice you are a man not a boy ignore the haters and embrace this significant opportunity and make Dominicans proud on the international stage.

Doe dig Dice, this is destiny you were born for that, you went to SMA, where calypso was more less recreation you choose to follow this path which many talented students pass, though you may not be the last, but surely you are one with class. The calypso fundation of SMA salut you.Good Luck.

I am happy for the Dice, BUT I wonder whether he was the best choice to represent Dominica’s calypso overseas. I mean, not only is his attitude rotten, but frankly speaking, as good a performer on stage as he is, his calypsos largely are for a local audience and really do not have any regional or international appeal. I believe an investment in someone like Caressa would be a MUCH better one.

Caressa’s calypsos have a broader appeal and the man is much more of a gentleman than Dice could ever be!!

I go through the comments and all I am seeing is postive comments for the most part, “good luck”, “job well done”, “a good opportunity to represent Dca” etc. etc. YET for all those positive comments there is a pattern being noticed – a thumbs down on every single one (as of this positing it was one thumbs down per comment). Which begs this question – WHY CAN’T DOMINICANS JUST BE HAPPY FOR EACH OTHER????? Forget politics, forget personal differences, this is nothing short of a great accomplishment not just for Dice, but for an opportunity that will surely benefit Dominica in the end. Why do you go out of your way to put a thumbs down on each positive comment here?

Just last week LIME/Gramps (from Morgan Heritage) held an event in the BVI, with the winner being chosen to represent the BVI. What a difference in the comments posted here and there!!!! I am not a “friend” of Dice, I do happen to like his music and his message…just as I like Hunter, Caressah etc. I would be just as happy if that were them chosen if Dice wasn’t. For you see, I look at the bigger picture, it is not red and blue, it is not who against who in power, it is who can bring much needed exposure to Dominica.

I don’t know about some of you but I am kind of tired of every one knowing who Bunji Garlin(Trinidad), Burning Flames (Antigua), (INSERT ANY REGGAE ARTIST HERE) (Jamaica), Alison Hinds (Barbados), etc etc are, but no one except for Dominicans know about our artists. Let us see the positives in this instead of bringing up why he not signing for digicel anymore…that is of no importance.

Peace & Blessings – Safe Carnival

I went through the comments and I see so many people leave positive comments, good luck, job well done, make our contry proud etc. etc….YET there seems to be a patter where every single OBVIOUSLY positive have a thumbs down negative comment (as of this posting it was one per comment)….Which begs my question –

he without sin cast the first stone. down i the bible God did not use perfect people to do his work he used sinners like dice and myself to do his work, because he did not come to save the good he came for the sinners so that they could live. i am sure you history book is not good even if you alone know whats in it ok so stop being a mad hater and respect the sin. because he is this famous you know about his activites but i am giving you one year to be king and lets see how many things that will come from you closet.. i am so sure you dont have at least barchelors by just the way you commented not proper use of grammer etc so give my king a chance KING DICE AGAIN FOR 2011

    February 17, 2011

apparently no one knows DICE for who he really is… can u say ignorant disrespectful fool? This man has no respect for anybody… the way he responds to young women, he is certainly no role model for the young men and this man cant even hold a debatable conversation without acting up if you dont agree to what he says! I agree he is talented in singing calypso but thats about it.. ( thank God for Pat Aaron) As far as behaviour and attitude wise dice is a no-no…. n all his so called friends know so… but they just accept it cause they want to remain on his good side.

Congrats to Lime for supporting one of our top artists. I just hope he can keep on the straight and narrow and should surround himself with positive people who can uplift him.He must not find himself on the wrong side of the law and make a concerted effort to be a law abiding citizen. Your many fans deserve and demand an improvement of your general behavior and deportment. This is not meant as destructive criticism but as an honest assessment and genuine wish to see you prosper.
