    The exclusion of certain artist show how small Island states work, the Gov’t operate with that same small mindset that is why there is no progress.they carry their petty grudges and stifle progress {BIG FISH IN SMALL PONDS}

Dominica will celebrate 40 Years of political Independence, as well as, the 20th. edition of the WCMF., yet our top musical icons, EXILE ONE, Nasio Fontaine, Anthony Gussie, and Dominican reggae artists of international acclaim are disallowed to grace the stage and to express their decades of RESILIENCE in the music/cultural field. Those mentioned and others have made and continue to make Dominica proud when they perform regionally and internationally.

Is DDA, DFC, Gov’t,, so vex with those top, professional artists, Dominican born, that they just won’t bulge, ease up? More Respect and allow those artists to perform. Lest we forget. It was Exile one and Gordon Henderson who created Cadence-Lypso, our own. It was Exile One and other local musicians/bands who popularized the infectious, melodic genre of music.

Former President of Haiti, ‘Sweet Mickey,’ a strong supporter of “Baby” Doc, Duvalier,, a past dictator of Haiti, (Research) is down to perform instead?

Movado should not be on the line up considering the bad publicity himself and his family has been receiving. We shouldn’t encourage these lifestyles and complain when our young men Rob, steal and kill.

If neither Nassio nor Exile One is in a 40 year independence fest, then something is wrong. Maybe there’s a piper calling the shots.

Although it’s a democracy it doesn’t seem like you can show your support for an opposing party and still participate in a government sponsored celebration. I wonder if Triple K etc. perform at a UWP event they will ever be in WCMF again. ??

Why dont they cancel this and focus on rebuilding the country. I wish another storm comes and spoil this whole affair. You people are fool you have work to do, there is a country to build back. all you all want to do is look good smell sweet, party party party, but many of you dont even have a roof much less for a place of your own, the road you drive and walk on is lke a river bed, the bridge you used to cross is no more. We have no priorities except good time, that is why we will always stay behind.

In case you didn’t know, this festival is not just about putting on a show. It’s about creating economic activity. Guesthoue and hotel rental, vehicle rentals, restaurants,, boutiques, market vendors for the coconut water and fresh souse, even the little fellas by the supermarkets waiting to carry bags. Taxi and tour operators, bars…the list goes on. So holding this show is a form of rebuilding. So many people depend on events like these to make a bread and butter money, pay bills etc. And for you to wish another storm comes is treasonous…wicked person. Haven’t we suffered enough? You must be one of those with concrete roof and who benefit from all the relief on temps..either that or you don’t live here..

That is an ignorant comment. So just because there is work to do does that mean we have to stop having some fun? The WCMF is not year round so we can enjoy ourselves. I understand that our other artists should be participating but we should not isolate ourselves from having a good time.

      PEACE

Immediately upon see this, I went online to see what flight were available from my location to DA. The return flight is good, but the best I could get was a 25 hour duration of my trip to Dominica (over-nighting in Barbados). I have friends in Barbados who would be more than happy to accommodate me there, but I just want to get to my destination. The idea of leaving the airport to return the next day to catch a flight is not a very attractive option for me.

I will keep looking hoping the Dominican authorities can arrange with LIAT to allow for same day arrivals into Dominica. That last flight out of Barbados at 1:45 pm would ensure I spend the night in B’dos. I am not doing that.

      “sewo still”

does it hurt to criticize less? apart from sewoing still, doesn’t this whole event bring in revenue and exposure, like Dominica needs?

Great Lineup, but we are bringing in 2 Jamaican ARTIST,yet again our own son of the soil NASIO not included.Ten years have passed since we last saw Nasio.

    • Music Producer
      July 2, 2018

Why would they add Nasio to the line up? – since he called the GUVMENT ministers out for doing really bad things to under aged girls in Dominica, he will be perpetually shunned by Labah!

  19. Musician
    June 27, 2018

The persecution, casting aside of the most famous band and musical icon DA has ever produced, Exile One and Gordon Henderson, respectively, continues. We should remember always that those Dominican artists are the creators of our internationally acclaimed music, Cadence-Lypso.

Francophone countries, Reunion, Seychelles, Martinique, Guadeloupe and others have embraced the Dominican music and the musicians. Exile One is invited to perform and awarded contracts overseas, but it seems plain that dem VEX with Gordon and Exile One.

Of course, overseas bands and musicians must be welcomed and should be invited, but what wickedness is that to our own? So most of the $$$$ going away, outside?

Isn’t EXILE ONE competent and professional enough to grace the WCMF stage?

Why that foolish, prolonged, keeping- EXILE ONE- out of such National cultural event like the WCMF? Yet all kinds of foreigners are awarded jobs in construction, services, selling passports, etc?
