Dominica’s 2010 Carnival Queen Marcia Baptiste has emerged second runner-up in the Miss Hibiscus Caraibes Pageant held in St Maarten over the weekend.

French Guiana’s Tineffa Naisso won the crown while the first runner-up spot was taken by Venezuela.

Baptiste is the first Dominican in over 10 years to be represented at the pageant. She competed against over 20 contestants who hailed from different parts of the Americas.

The pageant is an annual international beauty contest for all countries of the Caribbean and the Americas. It was founded in 1990 in the French part of Saint Martin, according to Wikipedia.com.
