Marcia Baptiste will represent Dominica in the Miss Jamzone International 2011 Pageant to be held in Guyana.
The event will be held in two parts. The first leg of competition is set for the National Cultural Center on August 17th and delegates will compete in the Evening Gown, Intelligence and Cultural Presentation segments. The final leg will be held at the Splashmins Fun Park on August 21st. Contestants will be judged on National Costumes, Fantasy Beach Wear and the final questions will be asked.
Baptiste is not new to the stage as she has had prolific run in the pageant industry, winning multiple crowns including Miss Dominica, Miss Caribbean World and Miss Jaycee’s Caribbean Queen 2010.
She described herself as outspoken and determined person who loves reading, meeting people, traveling, shoe shopping, exploring new places, learning new things and surfing the web.
Since 2000 the Miss Jamzone Pageant was a local Guyanese event but in 2010 the organizers changed the format to Miss Jamzone International Pageant, which saw the winner of the local leg competing against several other delegates from around the Caribbean.
Baptiste will be going up against contestants from 9 other Caribbean contestants including Miss Antigua, Miss Jamaica, Miss Suriname, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Barbados, Miss St. Lucia, Miss Venezuela, Miss St. Kitts and Miss Guyana.
I need the facts. Are we sending a contestant or is this a Marcia initiative and thus, funding herself?
If it is that we are sending Marcia, this is not just. You cannot recruit queen contestants, they give their all and then you do not support them. Whether you have a poor crop or not, you must support the winner. Maybe if we throw more passion behind the winner then will attract better contestants.

The reigning Miss St Kitts will not be participating in that show. The young lady participating is a former queen contestant (she did not win) from a few years back.

I love Marcia, but why Marcia when we have a reigning queen? That sounds a little disrespectful to me. If the reigning queen is not available, we have 1st and 2nd runner ups.

The reigning Miss St Kitts will not be participating in that show as that is not one of the regional shows that St Kitts participates in. I am almost certain, that the young lady from St Kitts (who happens to be a former Queen contestant from 5 or so years ago) is doing this on her own initiative as she has done in the past.
