Miss Dominica Pageant 2013 kicks off

The Dominica Festivals Committee has announced that 12 contestants have been selected to participate in an Elimination Pre Show, carded for September 22nd ahead of the 2013 Miss Dominica Pageant.
The twelve were chosen from a field of 18 after being interviewed by a panel of judges last weekend.
They are set to appear in a one and a half minute talent segment, swimwear, evening wear and question and answer rounds.
From that field seven will be selected to move on to the Miss Dominica pageant set for Friday, February 08, 2013.
The 12 contestants have been identfied as:
• Nerissa Alianda Williams of Thibaud,
• Wendie Lucia Romain of Cottage,
• Kelshia Breezie of St. Joseph,
• Leslassa Adey Armour-Shillingford of Castle Comfort,
• Nickisha Anne Philbert of Laudat,
• Fatima Noel of San Sauver,
• Chayil C’hannah Johnbaptiste of Calibishie,
• Tasia Floissac of Atkinson,
• Daina Wandae Mathew of Canefield,
• Nickisha Dalrymple of Kingshill,
• Jeanne Louisa Royer of Goodwill and
• Melinda Chervon Ulysses of Stockfarm.
The judges for the first round of competition were; Dr. Donald Peters – President Dominica State College, Steve Hyacinth – Chief Education Officer, Natalie Clarke Meade – Events Director – DFC, Ferdina Frampton – Corporate Communications Officer – LIME, Sharlene Richards – Miss Dominica 2005 and Lilian Polydore – Human Resource Manager – NBD.
Photos of the contestants have not been released by the DFC.

As a people have we sat down and think of what we write and say about people. Have we put ourselves in their shoes. You have to be in the kitchen to feel te heat. All beauticians, hairdresses, communication personnel, exotic life stly people,past Queen and Contestants,everybody examine your heart and soul – think of what you all are doing to people image – one day the table will turn on you all and there will be no one to help you turn it back for it is said vengence is mine said the Lord.
What is wrong with you all people – people cannot do good for you, all you alone can do things, dress, make-up, do hair, run things, talk etc. Its not good to make belief. Man Proposes, God disposes, remember we see your outside, but God knows your heart – clease yourselves and let us be positive in what we say and do. Jealousy can kill – what you wish for your brother/sister normally comes back and hunt you.
Lets work together for the good of our Country.

“Is that self” Have you been reading your Bible, our do you know the Ten Commandments. I think if you did – you would not be so negative or even try to tarnish people’s name. The show has not even started but all you already have things to say. What is wrong with you all. Get a job! Get work to do and stop going on DNO to mind people business. Think psotive for once. I must commend the Queen Show Committee and the DFC for this news. It shows that the Committee is doing a great job to have all these ladies registering for the Queen Show – to me its the first time I have heard of so many ladies registering- the Queen Show Committee is doing well. Keep up the good work guys. Who jar bless no man curse.
To all the delegates; start doing your regional show homework; both past and to come. It may sound as too much work; youtube the shows; pay attention to the Miss St. Kitts show in December; since St. Kitts is our rival regionally.
Micheal i don’t think these girls should be studying any shows they should be horning then own talent and stage personality not like Ms. Christie of this year..Because it has shown when these young ladies study and copy past shows it doesn’t bring out there true talent of being.
Great group this year; the committee must be commended for their efforts. We got the girls with intelligent; talent and beauty 5/6 months before the show. All we need is the sponsors to come forward and the production of the show. Personally, I think Jeanne Roger and Leslassa Adey Amour- Shillingford, are capable of winning regional titles. Therefore since they are friends; I would have chosen the eldest for the 2013 show; then the other in 2014. My support would certainly be for Leslassa; though I do not know her; I know that she would ace any interview; she got a good background; her aunt Carla was 2 Runner up in 1984; a year in which saw the show and girls competing.

Its people like you who prevent young ladies from entering this pageant. Why under a story about the 2013 contestants, you want to insult the 2005 queen?
Truth is every year there would always be people who don’t like the judges choice and think their girl should have won instead. I’m guessing you are a leandra supporter but she wasn’t even in the 2005 show where Miss Richards won, so I ask Why does supporting leandra have to lead to you insulting the 2005 queen? Its obvious you have a personal problem with the 2005 queen and if you do you should not be so nasty and bitter about it.

It is at this time every year that the interviews take place. It is not early at all, but right on schedule.
Carnival is very early this year. I have to buy my airline tickets soon.
