UPDATE: Nicole Rodriguez of ITSS is Miss Teen Dominica 2011

Rodriquez in all her glory

Seventeen-year-old Nicole Rodriguez of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School and sponsored by LIME has won the Miss Teen Dominica 2011 pageant.

Rodriguez, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, impressed the judges in five of the nine categories.
She won best talent, best spectacular wear, best in spectacular wear, best evening wear and best in evening wear awards.

15-year-old Millie Casimir of the Portsmouth Secondary School came in the first runner-up position. She copped the award for best speech. She was sponsored by Bull’s Eye Pharmacy.

Amy Auguiste, 15, of the North East Comprehensive School copped the award for best response to a question. She emerged second runner-up. She was sponsored by Waitukubuli National Trail.

New India Assurance sponsored Annesa Williams of the Goodwill Secondary School was sashed Miss Congeniality while 16-year-old Stella Alcendor of the Pierre Charles Secondary School won the Miss Photogenic award. She was sponsored by Scotia Bank.

Rodriguez told media that she was elated and promised to do her best for Dominica in her stint as Miss Teen Dominica. She thanked sponsors, family, friends and all her helped her along the way.

Rodriguez appeared as a belly dancer in her talent round in which she presented the ancient art with a Caribbean style. She wowed the crowd as she stepped out gracefully in a red silk gown which accentuated her curves.

The pageant was held last evening at Carnival City in Pottersville and was organized by the Waitukubili Dance Theatre Company.

All you to backward in Dominica. Funny that no one has an issue with her getting a Dominican education, living in Dominica, spending money in Dominica…but you guys have an issue with her WINNING a teenage pageant crown.

It would be one thing is there was logical debate over the issue- but typical Dominicans…they just like to run their mouth and disagree for the sake of disagreeing when they don’t know jack about a situation.

Funny how no one had an issue with her being in the pageant – is it because all you thought that she wouldn’t win?

It’s funnier that the article made no mention of her status in Dominica other than she was born in the republic…but you guys are jumping high and low making absurd comments.

This is the new world….get with it. Well people… to those who do not know – there are way in which one can become DOMINICAN, other than by birth.

Although i do not know the girls bio – because the article did not contain it…. i do know that she is in a Dominican school, living among Dominican people, playing with our Dominica children, adopting our Dominican culture… whatever the case…. she had the right to WIN the competition because she was ALLOWED to participate. So come high or come low…whether she is Dominican by parentage, by adoption, by permanent residenscy, whateevr the case, – it matters not cuz the laws do not prohibit it, so it’s her RIGHT to participate.

FYI folks might I just inform you that MISS UNIVERSE or MISS WORLD as the names imply are INTERNATIONAL pageants and therefore open to all nationalities around the globe, hence a completely different show as compared to a Miss Dominica, Miss St Lucia, Miss Teen Dominica, Miss USA etc where being a native of the country is fundamental to the title in most of these cases.

Miss Caribbean or any other regional show can encompass other islands, regions.Likewise those commenting on Dominicans taking part in pageants at universities.. these are open to ALL the students who attend the universities who are well aware of the diversity of nationalities, and not exclusive to the country or island nationals where the university is established.

I say all this because reading some of the arguments especially those of the ones who are quick to hurl insults and become defensive seem still unaware of the terminology they throw out. Dominicans when you are about to get into a trist with others, inform yourselves, this is afterall the worldwide web.

Furthermore I have noticed reading many blogs not just this one, as long as someone mentions they live abroad, they are dehumanized, ridiculed, torn to shreds for expressing an opinion. Is this forum exclusive to ONLY DOMINICANS living on the island? To some of you everybody is lllegal or a traitor to Dominica.. I can assertain that almost every person on the island has a family member abroad. Dominicans abroad are NOT DYING OF MISERY and HUNGER as some of you so protest, exhibiting your ignorance. You all would be amazed at how the majority of people live without showing off.Dominicans abroad make a significant contribution to the islands’ economy through migrant remittances, further subsidised by barrels. Check the gazette!

It is such a shame and disgrace to my fellow Dominican spewing so hatred and diguest about a mere TEEN PAGEANT SHOW. How many of us live in other countries, attend school and participate in activities in our adopted country. We must learn to me open-minded. This is school affair.Has a teenage queen even represented DA in another country?? Was she invisible before the competition?? So now is because she win the crown there is so much hoopla. Please people, grow up and accept diversity.

It is a shame to see how Dominicans getting on for a little show like that and one young lady who is so innocent and did nothing wrong. All she did was represent HER SCHOOL for a pageant. It’s not to say like she went abroad representing Dominica. She took interest and represented her school.

We need to move away from this negative attitude we have toward everything that doesn’t go our way. It’s already done and it’s final. Support the young lady and give her the encouragement that she needs to carry out her reign and enjoy herself. She is only a teenager enjoying herself and grasping opportunities at hand. Someone else could have represented the ITSS but no one did and she took the chance.

Some of you Dominicans are to narrow-minded and negative in you all thinking. We have all kind of people in D’ca doing what they want. Look at the Chinese, have you all said anything to them?? Look at the Prime Minister.
Give the girl a break and move from all the negativity you all have. You all want to talk of painting a bad picture………look at what you all are doing now. GROW UP!!!!!!

If you don’t want any non-citizens to enter your pageants, then say so from the beginning. Total Ignorance!!!!!

    February 28, 2011

It truely saddens me to read some of the comments.

All over the world Dominicans have emigrated looking for a better life for themselves and their families. Most have been the victims of some kind of racism (yes things have improved some, and the bigots have been educated in other peoples cultures).

In the most popular sport in the UK (football/soccer) there are many players representing England who are of Caribbean/African descent. These players are loved by the people for what they do for England. Same goes for the athletes

Now a young lady of Spanish descent has won a pageant in Dominica, and some Dominicans are showing their bigotry with pride. Shame on you. Like it or not, we now live in a multicultral world. If you dont want (foreigners) to enter any form of competition or invest or even live here, then I’m sorry to say that Dominica will ground to a stand still and be way behind any orther island/country.

As for Miss Rodriguez’s lack of the English language (please dont make me laugh), read some of the comments on DNO. No one would believe that English was our first language.

Born in Dominica living in a foreign country for the past 22 years – despite you grammar, I agree with you 100%. I was born in Dominica and I have been living in the US for the past 30 years. I am not able to do anything that the citizens do. I have that same question. How can a person born in another country become MISS DOMINICA when she is not a DOMINICAN. I really would like to know, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AT HOME? Another question, was the competition ONLY based on what the girls wore? All of her accomplishments were based on her ‘WEAR.’

(She won best talent, best spectacular wear, best in spectacular wear, best evening wear and best in evening wear awards.) This sounds so RIDICULOUS.

In response to your comment, they will not take over soon, THEY HAVE ALREADY TAKEN OVER. That girl do not even have a beautiful smile. Who were the judges anyway? Dominican Republicans? WOW, there are so many beautiful girls in DOMINICA.

Amy Auguiste, 15, of the North East Comprehensive School copped the award for “best response to a question.” She should have won MISS DOMINICA.

15-year-old Millie Casimir of the Portsmouth Secondary School came in the first runner-up position. She copped the award for “best speech.” She should have won MISS DOMINICA.

You DO NOT crown a person based on what she WEARS.

MISS DOMINICAN REPUBLIC WON BEST TALENT, OF COURSE, HER TALENT WAS BELLY DANCING. COME ON PEOPLE, DON’T YOU SEE – SHE’S A BELLY DANCER. YOU CAN’T BEAT THAT.

So many beautiful, lazy and worthless young girls in DA. They just look good but they have no education, no skills, low self esteem and no talent. You walk up to a beautiful young girl saying excuse me to ask a question and the attitude sucks but then the ones who do respond have poor dental hygiene (bad breath). So let them continue to sit on their a*& and just show off and nothing not there and then d idiots out there want to come and bray about Spanish taking over. The question is where are the talented and educated young ladies of Dominica. They just fronting and afraid to step up to the plate and do something constructive for their country…All they can do is dress up and be fronting in town? Their parents can’t even control them so what are you braying about Dominicans. Hold your corner! or else someone else will hold it for you…

    February 28, 2011

Isn’t it ironic.. a non-Dominican-Naitonal can enter our country as a guest, get free schooling, and the nerve and sponsorship to not only enter a local pageant but win??..yet a NATURALLY BORN, RAISED, SCHOOLED DOMINICAN WITH EVERY ROOT AND TIE TO DOMINICA CAN’T BE PRIME MINISTER, even after having served as a teacher, community activist and volunteer in the land of his birth? We’re lynching Skerrit, but foreigners are embraced. Maybe it’s me but Dominicans are shameless, ruthless two-faced, 12 tongued people.

Ask the young lady the occupation of her mother on Dominica that brought her here? ask Skerrit how his mother came to be born in Guadeloupe and by virtue of that he became elligible for citizenship. While our constitution should be upheld, when did it become ok for non-Dominican nationals to be partaking in local talent shows? Isn’t there a clear clause in the committees’ constitution that says one must be DOMINICAN by birth? When did the rules change? Wicked souls!!! One day our people will realise they have been over-run by non-nationals. She is not even Dominican by birth, she had no right in the competition to start with, but you all overlook that and cheering her on. Hypochrites!

i commend you on your thoughts and insites … it is a shame that a “none-birthed dominican” as you mentioned can have such an opprotunity to enter the competition let alone win. It is a shame that we “dominicans” allow our people to downgrade each other, had it been one of us leaving in a foreign island such as Dominican Republic we would not have stand a dog’s chance to even sign the registration paper for any competition within their land. For those who are saying it is an act of jealousy, you should open your eyes and face reality. This is not jealousy but in fact, it blatant disrespect to us Dominicans (West Indies). Stop the nonesense and face the truth this went out of hand, dispeakable!

I am very disappointed by all the negative comments and bigoted statements being made by my fellow Dominicans. This young lady needs to be congratulated and encouraged to excel in all that she does.

Congratulations Nicole – you did well. God Bless you as you continue to achieve.

People, remember we are all immigrants (with the notable exception of the Kalinago people). We all need to embrace diversity because it is what makes us great. Please do not do to this young woman what we do not want done to us when we reside in a foreign land. Does she speak English fluently? No, but then again, how many of us do? I know that I have a command of the language, but I also know I make mistakes; who am I to cast the first stone when I too have sins?

Please do not decry the existence of foreigners in country; do we need to control the influx? absolutely – but do not stop, because its those very foreigners who bring freshness to our society. Dominica has a migration problem, people leave more than they return, and that in turn affects the living conditions of those who remain – the tax base gets smaller and the cost of living goes up for those remaining because they’re the ones who have to pay for it. One of the main solutions to this problem is to get people to come in – diasporans in particular, get some of them to return, as well as foreigners who want to live in our great country and play a part in it’s development. That is a win – win situation for us. It can only enrich us. Let us move away from being a closed society and embrace diversification.

    • Aaaaa
      February 28, 2011

No one is decrying immigrants in the country. If she was second generation meaning born in dominica I don’t think most people would have an issue with it. But be honest you think any dominican child can go up for teenage pageant in Dominican Republic? If she was born in DA I don’t think most would have an issue.

      • warma
        February 28, 2011

I do not know the answer to that question, but you be honest, neither do you. Has it ever been tried? Neither you nor I know the answer to that question either. It makes no sense presuming that it is not possible, for it very well may be. Its as simple as that.

YES YES YES we did it, finally after many years of us struggling to win. I distinctly remember when I was a student back in the 90’s we came in first runner up and the reason that was given why we did not win was because our rep. held her dresss.smth they just had to give it to CHS, they could not stand the fact that Marissa was a better contestant than the convent girl at the time, but this time there was no stopping us. Nicole inspite of all the negativity do not worry with my so called Dominicans people who are shallow minded, they just can’t stand the fact and learn to move on. You did well and you represented your school well that was what this is all about. Kudos to you my girl. Let your reign as teen queen be a positive thing in your life and may you represent the teens in Dominica proudly.

Congratulatiosn going out to the young lady who excelled at the event to emerge the winner.

I am happy to see that multiculturalism is showing it’s face in Dominica. I must say, it is time that Dominicans wake up to the world around them and realise that multicultaralism has taken over the world.

Look to the Americans, Canada, England, the so called world players and we’ll hear over and over that IMMIGRANTS help build the nations and keep them functioning.

IMMIGRANTS make an immense contribution to their society.

So i say to the Dominicans who are being prejudiced, racist, small minded in their words and thoughts – PLEASE – welcome the multiculturality to Dominica….as long as we do not forget our CULTURE,….we need to remember that just as they are immigrants in Dominica, so too are we immigrants in their country and another man’s country…so let’s treat them how we want to be treated!!!!!

Dominica once hosted the Miss OECS. A few times contestants would in their speech indicate that they were of either Dominican parentage or born on Dominica, but won the National title in another country. The first Miss OECS [ 1984] represented Antigua and Barbuda but was born on Point Michel. Very recent on Antigua in 2010, the 1st Runner in the Miss Antigua and Barbuda Carnival Queen show was born on Dominica. Why are we being so discriminatory? When we open our shore/door to our Caribbean brothers and sisters,to ESME, we opened them up to our Culture, access to our Education and Health system. We open them up to a population which was on the decline which affected the rates we pay for services such as water, electricity etc., since there were few consumers of these services. When we open our door we opened it to integration. Are we saying that if family decide to take resident in Dominica, if there is a 01 – 17 years old that the family should not consider coming to Dominica? We should also think differently. There are Dominican who migrated to other countries, should their kids who were either born there or grew up there, not be afforded opportunities? Wake up! This is the year 2011!

To the ITSS congrats! It is my alma matter! It is our first Miss Teen Dominica/Teenage Pageant. And at 40 years I felt proud listening to the results. It would be very interesting what would have transpired had we have the customary schools within the Roseau catchment area, namely Convent High School.

Administer of DNO, Is there a reason why we haven’t been seeing picture highlights of the various shows? I notice there was NONE for Opening of Carnival, Princess Show, Junior Calypso Monarch, Soca and Groovy and now Miss Teen Dominica. Is this going to be the order for the Carnival Season? I have always look forward to viewing the pics a day or two after. Very thankful for that as a Dominican residing in the Diaspora!

Off note folks, there is NO website for Dominica’s Carnival 2011, The Real Mas, the Caribbean most spontaneous Carnival. All you get is info on 2010.

these instances were different because if you had only done your homework and found out the rule and regulations for pageantry in Antigua you would have know that you need to be a citizen either by birth or naturalization which is if you did not know….they had to have an antiguan passport from having lived in the country a certain number of years or if their mother or father was Antiguan…. she didn’t win an award for her speech etc. “She won best talent, best spectacular wear, best in spectacular wear, best evening wear and best in evening wear awards.” none of that has to do with her language… if she won all those her score would be higher than the rest right? she won 5.. everyone else won 1. it’s not about speech alone.. that is only one category….imagine if she didn’t mess up on her speech and questions.. she would have won all…so just be happy some girls got the chance to win at least some. She is very pretty!

So y are all of these issues coming up now, after the contestant has won the show? Wouldn’t the negative comments have made more sense when they were introduced as contestants for the Miss teen Dominica? How many of us know the weightings for the segments of the show? If she topped 5 categories, and were way above in some, that would have compensated for the errors in her speech and answer questions. Haven’t ever a teen contestant (Dominican born) made language errors on stage and we would have been left to wonder if English is her first language? I am not saying that some of the critiques are not of genuine concern but we are tooo quick to give negative criticisms and not look at the bigger picture……..the fact is she won, so just congratulate the girl and her school, and address your concerns in the appropriate way and to the appropriate persons.

Any way Dominicans i am dissapointed in your biased, racist, predjudice comments. When Dominicans participate in pageants in The Universities in the United states they are praised, when DOMINICANS participate in sports in foreign countries we recognize them.Is it because she is not from our country we are predujice. And further more non of the Dominican girls wanted to participate. She asked to take part. Mr Raymond Lawrence was consulted, and the criteria is that you have to attend the school not be a Dominican. She introduced herself in spanish to let all you so called Dominicans know we are not embrassed of her heritage, and not hiding it.I worked tirelessly with this young lady ,she is beautiful and intelligent, ohh she does well in school, better than most of “Dominican” peers. This is all because that she did not come from one of the so called top tier schools. This year is ITSS time ok and we brought it home. Thanks to her walking coach, you know urself.

Congrats nicole, the only thing I do not like in the queen and teenage shows is the swimsuit wear round of course due to my religious affliation and our views of exposing one’s body. Other than that I see it as an expression of culture and talent. We need more

However, I am very happy for this young lady and could bring some joy to her school. Unfortunately, I saw quite a few comments which shows the high level of prejudicism from our Dominican people. They criticize the young lady because she is of Spanish Origin, even worse, people think schools in Roseau are better than those in the rural areas. This mentality needs to varnish, this is absolute nonsense. We have to invest and support all our schools on the island. We have to recommend suggestions for improvement. We need to be more positive as a people. The lack of LOVE has eroded us, we have no love for each other, we treat our own and others at times so poorly. We need to stop that, it’s unhealthy for us.

I feel compelled to respond to your rediculous nonesense as I sit at my desk in London and also to try and educate you, although by your very sad comments there’s perhaps ‘no hope’ for someone with such a ‘backward’ way of thinking.

First of all no man is an island and nor is Dominica or Dominicans.

Second of all I am not sure which stone you crawled out from under but I say with that whopped attitude ‘you need to go right back there, do not pass go, and remain there’, as a growing island like Dominica certainly has no place for such mentality in society!

Thirdly, have you ever taken the time to consider and research the number of Dominicans that are living in so many countries/islands around the globe, (whether legally, elegally or those born of Dominican parentage)? I suggest you do just that and enlighten yourself as ‘Dominicans’ are some of the last people on this planet who should be making such degrogatory comments or inflamatory statements. (GROW THE HELL UP, FIND YOUR NICHE IN LIFE AND GO FOR IT–STOP BEING A CRAB IN THE BARREL)! I pity you whoever you are!

Congratulations young lady! I wasn’t at the show but by all accounts from what people who were there and listening to the commentary on radio, you were heads and shoulders above the rest in most categories and the key in pageats is always ‘total consistency.’ Well done lovey and do enjoy your reign.

Hearty congratulations is also extended to all of the other positive young ladies who did yourselves proud, your island proud, your schools proud and most of all family and friends both in and out of the island!

I bet all of yall who are complaining didnt have the opportunity to attend a top tier school. These girls are pretty, smart, decent and wonderful.

Many prominent people – doctors, lawyers, engineers, politicians and great wives and husbands came from those schools.

Hate it or love it !

    • Cleo (Former ITSS pupil)
      March 1, 2011

Well, I am very disppointed with King Maker’s comment. You should start living up to your name! There no teir schools in D/ca. I am a former pupil of ITSS and a lawyer in the UK. ITSS have produced many lawyers, doctors, accountants, engineers, authors, politicans, leaders and the lsit goes on…….Therefore that make us all top tier schools in D/ca.

Secondly, this girl represented her school and not the country. The best girl won! Conrgatualtions Nicole you are beautiful!!!

The young lady was excused for not being able to speak english properly, and that was just not right. Any other contestant would have been penalized for the number of mistakes during speech and questions. Is this a good trend to follow, are we going to excuse the Haitains and Chinese next. She performed well yes, but to be crown miss teen I dont think so.

      February 28, 2011

:-D so she spoke spanglish huh. I agree with you on that wii…but I guess beauty ,curves and talent carry more weight . On that note…..whatever happened to all those beautiful Dominican girls? Are they not interested in going up for miss teen anymore? Only a few high schools participated in this years’ competition? I did not hear about CHS, DGS. What happened? Let me go take my spanish book

      February 28, 2011

Have you ever looked at the Miss World and Miss Universe Pageant????

Some of the contestants cannot speak English??

By the way is it only English that is the only language in the World????

I think now we are getting too far by even rebuking those who cannot speak English. We think we are all in the World and even think that certain schools are better than the other.. Grading and Branding schools and persons.

We are all the same in his sight.

Let the young lady enjoy her reign. She did her best and won even if she is not a full blown Dominican. She is Caribbean… She is someone’s child as well ….. You all now taking this joke too far..

Give the young lady a break and wish her well so you will be wished well too.

Most of you responders who get offended by what people say are from I.T.S.S or have some connection with I.T.S.S. Enjoy it since there will be no other crowned queen from ITSS for the next 100 years. Next year CHS coming back for her crown. CHS gave you all a break and all you want to show off….

I quite agree she was good but should she have won I dont think so. Excuse her because she couldn’t speak english. Rubbish I say. And what about the granbay girl, I personally would have placed her.

      February 28, 2011

You should know Dominicans by now. They get bazodie when they see someone from another country who is prettier than them no matter what. So far no one has congratulated any of the runner-ups. They busy responding to what others say. They all heated up

  80. Flex
    February 28, 2011

I think the young lady did well, but I think the judges excused all her blunders when answering her questions because she is spanish, that to me wasn’t fair. I see no reason y one girl can be penalized and the other not just because english is not her first language. Dominica is full of foreign nationals, and if others decide to participate is that the trend we are going to take in judges, excuse them because they are not english.

    Congrats Millie Casimi

      February 28, 2011

@ flex you’re not making any sense. if the judges had excused her problems with the language she would have won best speech or best answer to question. at the end of the day she got 6 other awards she deserved to win. get real.

As a former teacher my chest is swelled with pride at this momentousness achievement. Hats off to ITSS.

are we serious this is miss teen D/ca not miss Caribbean ,we have to take a look at what and how we conduct or business in D/ca, I live in NY an my daughter wanted to participate in little miss princess, and I was told that she would have to be an American, she been living in NY with me for the past 11 years, and 2 years ago she wanted to participate.but was turn down.

so why do any,and any body can get their way over our children in D/ca,am not mad about the young lady getting it am mad that they would allow her to participate. his is Miss Teen Dominica.
come on d/cans show some respect.

we are going in the wrong way.hope that you guys know what you all are doing.cause Spanish have no way of not taking what they want so be careful.

Don’t you know that most of the foriegn people leaving in DA have Doimican Passport? So they are Dominicans! The Spanish speaking girl is a Dominican just like you yourself!

I Bet your daughter don’t have an American Passport,so she is not American! She is still Dominican living in America via a Visa!

nobody tell u go New York and have your child take place in America bizz.. DR is part of the Caribbean atleast.. and you dont even know if the girl have dual citizenship.. her mother or father could be from Dominica and the other from DR.. give me a break.

    • Just call me miss jackson...
      February 28, 2011

You maybe have your child living in NY maybe illegally like u …. So if she is an illegal u realllly expect them to let her run… I am a past student of ITTS and a former participant of the MTP.. Finally we were able to get the crown.. All of allu going in people country and becoming citizens, and living ILLEGALLY, allu getting all kinds of benifits including food stamps, week for your kids, freeeee healthcare, section 8 and all kinds of stuff, alot of times with NOOOO papers but allu want to talk about the young lady and what dominica coming too, pleaseeeeee will and come again.. Take the spec out your eyes before u take it out from your neighbor’s eye. Typicalll dominicans always wanna be a sour louser..Just accept and move on. No one told u to go NY and have your kid.. Is a good thing my child is an american and if and when i decide to go back to dominica she will have her dominican passport too.. who vex take a number.. shaitttt

        February 28, 2011

who tell all you that these Spanish people want to stay in DA.please am working with some of them and they told me that as soon as they get their da passport they are trying to get a US visa, da is just a lick place for them ,they talk down about da so much how small and backward it is. I have two friends that are form dominica republic and they are in da now. one is looking to get married the other one told me all she want is a man to give her a baby so she can get a passport.

my child and myself are both legal people in NY.so please ,I love my island that is why i am just saying we have to look out for our own,as soon as this young lady gets what she want form us ,da is no longer on her map.I can promise u that .da is second class to them spanish.the people from china we have a better chance with them cause they are really not leaving da to go no where else ,but spanish.

dominican clean up ur back yard first and then mover over, some of you all are just big fools fools I say. .

  85. ashamed dominican right now.
    February 28, 2011

well done sweety, did not see the show but i listen and had no doubt you were going to be the winner. i was really impress with the way you answered your question.although english is your second language.congrates to your teachers too.your english is impressive.congrates again.

  86. Impressed!
    February 27, 2011

I am very Pleased with the young lady”s performance. I attended the show and she Waawed me from the introduction round. The fact that English is not her mother language impeded her speech a bit but I am impressed with the way she handled it, she spoke from her heart, dance is a language that the spanish speak very passionately and the way she glided on stage spoke volumes of her abilitity to be a natural, this talent was not practiced for the show, it seemed a part of her and that’s what talent is about. At the end consistency wins the crown and at that show YES I, she was consistent. Simple, sweet and her speech on dance she spoke from her heart, not rehersed at all so I am proud of you girl.

  87. Miss
    February 27, 2011

Miss ITSS was good she worked hard congratulations but i believe the Grand Bay girl was very good , your talent was what you can do best right but if it were someone else who danced that sexy dance they would not have won bast talent her spectacular wear i didnt like , no recycle material pala judges come better than that what is that did she get it because she had a big head piece or what , best in dress she was not polished i liked the grand bay girl in her dress she was easy going and sweet . To me this show was based on Politics colour and some judges they need to remave .

WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT HER NOW?…………. COMMENTING ON PREVIOUS NEWS THAT SHE COULDN’T SPEAK ENGLISH? I guess she spoke patois on the stage and WOW the judges… CONGRATZ YOUNG LADY!!

…Is this the first hispanic to win the crown? Would love to know

fool stop being racist, she represented her school and won remarkably

    • mmmmm
      February 28, 2011

You only become second class if you want to be so. Lack of self esteem is hurting a lot of people. It lets them believe that if one achieves .. they say that this person is better than I am and they carry this burden to their detriment. These are the people who become negative speakers to come. Everything is wrong to them and they look for a small hole in a well dressed individual to make the good look ugly.

People time to raise your banner. No one is better than you are .. We only have different talents but in the Creators sight , we are all the same.

Hey what makes one a Dominican??

I know so many persons who born overseas and they lived all their life in Dominica.

I have a relative who was born overseas but from six months to now, he has resided and gone to school in Dominica.

Again I ask what makes one a Dominican???

Someones we have to use our initiatives you know.. Is like some of us brains not working , we do not have an opinion but hinge on what others say even if what they say is wrong and can be a detriment to us.

Are you guys crazy?………….What did this young lady do to deserve that title.
Dominicans have taken byassness to another level and this was completely low of them.
Completely, the crown was for the Portsmouth Secondary beauty or the Pierre Charles Secondary star. These girls came to win while the others just came on the stage as if it was a joke.
When in this country have our african ancestors embraced belly dancing……..Hello No.
