There was a great Christmas spirit in the atmosphere as National Bank of Dominica Ltd (NBD) in collaboration with the Portsmouth Town Council hosted the 2010 Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Carolling on Sunday in front of the NBD Portsmouth branch.
The Music Lover’s Government Band, as part of their Christmas tours, opened the event.
The Mayor of Portsmouth, Vernon Daniel, delivered an address and the crowd was entertained by eight choirs for the north: Vielle Case Senior Choir, Christian Union Worship Team, McIntyre Douglas, Portsmouth Catholic Youth Choir, Possie Steel Pan, Michail Ferrol Gospel Team, Portsmouth Catholic Senior Choir and Paix Bouche Catholic Choir.
There was a true sense of togetherness and Christmas as the large crowd, wearing Santa hats, danced to a mixture of traditional and West Indian Christmas songs.
