One of Dominica’s bouyon songwriter/producer /recording artiste Neijel “Nayee” Jno Baptiste will on Friday release a single entitled “Celebrate my Island’ at the Friday Creole Sizzle outside the LIME store in Roseau.
The single has been described as a “compliment to the Dominican culture, its music and our style of celebration.”
Nayee, who is scheduled to perform as a solo artist on the annual Creole in the Park (CITP) the 17th World Creole Music Festival and other activities held during Dominica’s 35th Independence celebration, said the song is not just for the Independence season.
He urged fans to tune in to listen to the release of the song and other interviews over the weekend. “The song makes you feel proud about the rich culture that we have and encourages you to encourage others to come to Dominica for a taste of this culture,” he said.
In addition to the release of his song, the public can get a memorable piece of Nayee by purchasing his latest compilation titled “Chapter One”.
According to him, ‘Chapter One’ is not an album but a compilation of the songs that he has done for the year.
He also mentioned that all the songs on the compilations will not be on his official upcomin album. The compilation, which is actually a DVD, also has two of his videos on it, he said.
The public can purchase copies at either Graphics located on Great Marlborough St or Music Land which is now located on lower King George V St.
The DVD costs $25.00 however; there is an Independence special of only $20.00 until 5th November.
The former member of bouyon giant, WCK, mentioned that it would be great if everyone put aside all differences and appreciate and promote Dominica’s culture during independence.
“Amongst everything going on in the country right now, it would be great if we could all put aside our differences and appreciate and support our culture. Everyone should promote our country’s culture to all our distant relatives and networks in the foreign countries,” he said.
He said culture should should be neutral to build and unite the country.
“Most importantly, our traditions should be taught to the younger generation so it is never lost and will always belong to Dominica,” he stated.
What if I am not in Dominica? How can I get my copies for me and my other patriots?
You could try visiting his facebook page and inquire there. It is “Nayee”.
Congrats Nayee good luck my friend.
Great work Nayee. Keep it up! I totally agree with you, we should unite during our Independence celebrations and also teach the children our traditional ways. I will definitely get my copy before the Independence special is over.
I will get mine before you do!
