No “clear cut” Road March winner yet

It appears that for the second year running, officials at the Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) will have to share the road March title.

That was the case in 2014 when, according to the DCA, there was no clear cut winner and “Tomato Burst” by Wok SUk and “Murderer” by Omee had to share the title.

One week after the 2015 carnival activities have ended, the DCA is yet to announce the Road March winner.

According to a top official of the DCA, “we are expected to meet tonight to have a discussion and determination on the matter…but it is just not clear cut.”

According to the official, from the tabulations received it appears that Lugurz with his song “de Lugurz back again” and “Pastor Bull” by Val ‘De Bull’ Cuffy are the front runners for the title.

“It is difficult, Pastor Bull, de Lugurz back and Speaker by Comforter and to a lesser extent Dice with Proverbs dominated the road on the two days and also in Mahaut, Grand Bay, Portsmouth and elsewhere,” the official said. “So we just don’t have a clear cut winner for the Road March 2015.”

He also took a jab at the local bands who he said played “a lot of foreign music” and “Bouyon” insead of the traditional calypsos, during the two days of street jump up.

“That did not help the situation at all and so like last year where we were forced to spread the bread, it appears that we will have to do the same with Pastor Bull and Lugurz in 2015,” the official said.

You all Dominicans to hypocrite. STOP making excuses. It is about time we stop rewarding people for crappy work. I wouldn’t give No one road march this year. The calypsos we weak this year and to me there were NO contenders for road march. NO songs stood out. To much crying calypsos. Back in the days guys had one jumpy song and one serious one. Why try and force people to jump up or enjoy boring weak songs. Come better than that and yes we Dominicans will support local.

well, well, well, problems again, even with calypso what next. I am sick to death with DA people childishness it goes on and on. Who care who won what it is not worth the money anyway only the status. Trinidad and Barbados, even St Lucia takes care of their patrons not DA sey tou zou pa ne largen. Come on move with the times.
Another thing stop playing Trinidad and other people music in the UK, there is no way they would play DA music in their dance we are seen as second class people in their eyes. CHARITY begins at HOME play DA music in DA at least we have control there the traitors that was jumping to other music needs to question themselves

Just as the DCA says there is no clear cut winner. Right here on this page the writers are agreeing that there was no clear cut winner

I called it Pastor Bull since after the Carnival Tuesday that was what I heard the most. But then again I was only in Roseau so I don’t know what was played in the other areas

Where as I agree with alot of the comments I must commend the Imprompt U Band on their return. They played alot of calypso’s likewise the bouyon. I jumped with them and the band was peaceful and I was FULLY satisfied. I think more bands should take a leaf from The Imprompt U Band book. Keep up the good work guys. Looking forward to you’ll in New York for the labor day !!

There should be more of local music than foreign ones. After all, it is Dominica Carnival. Nevertheless, they were invited to D/ca and so they played their French music which some people especially those who are familiar with French music danced to. They could not be excluded from playing.
Big decision, eh? What the DCA must do is to go along with the D/can calypsos and music and decide which one(s) excelled enough to win the road march. It really is the people’s choice. Good luck in your decision.

Boy Look cochonie by the association
Bob was on the radio last week saying there was a front runner and the roadmarch was not difficult to decide this year.
Another official now contradicting that statement.
    These guys are just incompetent.
Trinidad announced their roadmarch since ash Wednesday and this DCA in 2015 have to take a whole week to decide?
    Are you serious DCA?
    Is this Dominica in 2015?
Hunter was there a blood clot with the results or is it not exposed that you are just a figure head and ghost is the real decider?
    DCA you can’t be serious.
This is the first time in the history of calypso a roadmarch have to take a week to be announced.
Who is the PR of the DCA?
This is unacceptable and I hope when we stop supporting calypso all you get the message

I am a bit surprise that the Comforter’s “Speaker sa la paka changez” is not in the top two for Road March. DCA please go back to the drawing board on this one.

We all kno why it is taking so long. It is because Ras Ghost wants to leave Pastor Bull out. But, we will pray on his head so that justice can prevail.

I agree. The local music bands must play the local calypsos. Why do we have to play the foreign stuff and so much bouyon, with which we are bombarded throughout the year, during the two-days of jump up and parade of costume bands?

I am almost leaning to supporting your argument but only if there were calypso bands on the reoad. However, since the majority if not all the bands on the road are “BOUYON” bands and they have their own music to promote it is not reasonable to expect them to play only calypso music on the road.
Additionally, when a group pays a band to play for them they in my opinion reserve the right to make demends on the bands to play what they want.
