“Obeah Man” for DOMFESTA

Theatrical lovers are being told to brace themselves for a play that will change their concept of obeah.

The play dubbed “Obeah Man” is part of activities to celebrate DOMFESTA in Dominica.

“Obeah Man”, will be staged at the Arawak House of Culture on Friday night and over the weekend.

It is written and directed by Alex Bruno of “Teyat Pawol International.”

“The play makes fun of obeah as a practice. We believe in obeah. There is a lot of trickery and we are exposing them. We are speaking about the ills of evil and we are having a good time speaking about a serious topic,” he said.

Bruno has made it clear that the play does not glorify obeah.

He disclosed that the West Indies cricket team has been invited to the play which starts at 8pm Friday.

People with little of no education can be overcome by a presentation of any kind that is well done and plays upon their emotions.

An objective presentation of Christianity reaches people on an intellectual level. They are stirred and moved emotionally to receive Christ when they are convinced intellectually that the gospel is true. Their lives are changed and these kind of conversions last.

We have never known of an evangelical leader – a pastor or a Christian missionary – being converted to obeah or becoming a witch doctor. On the other hand we can tell you of case after case where voodoo workers and witch doctors have heard the gospel message from our missionaries both in Haiti and Africa and have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. Some have become Christian pastors!

The gospel of Christ saves people from their sins. Alcoholics become sober and drug addicts are set free through the power of His name. Changed lives are a testimony to the grace of God and the reality of the gospel. However, when you look at any type or form of witchcraft you see exactly the opposite. Witch doctors themselves are frequently found to not only drink alcohol and use drugs, but sometimes sell these products with no sense of inconsistency.

It is difficult to imagine anybody going to a obeah worker or a witch doctor for help with an alcohol or drug addiction problem. But many have found deliverance at the altar of an evangelical Christian church. We have ministries that specialize in helping drug addicts come clean. Teen Challenge which was founded by David Wilkerson (a Pentecostal minister) in New York in the 1950s is now world wide with centres in many nations. It is the most effective rehabilitation program on earth with an 80% success rate.

No town or village ever became a better place to live because a obeah worker or witch doctor moved in and opened a shop The same can be said of taverns, and gambling halls. But history shows that many localities have benefited by the opening of a gospel mission or evangelical church. We are there for the good of people. I can say to the citizens, Watch us. Give us a few years and you will see the fruits.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Obeah is alive and well in Dominica. Being an assigned victim who took it on and I am here to tell the tale – Keep your hands clean- God whose son is Jesus Christ is stronger, mightier more powerful than any evil spirit that you would want to send to destroy me and my children. I rebuke you and all your evil deeds I don’t want your package, it’s on its way back to you-Bomerang style. The same hole you dig for others you will fall in it. Plan to kill me guess what? Right back at you honey. Want to destroy my career? Look out! Want to kill my children? Prepare yourself to attend your son’s funeral. It’s not me that said. You started it and God will have the last say. As you sow you will reap. NO weapon formed against me/mine shall prosper. I am sorry for you little girl but you CANNOT keep destroying people. You chose to sell your soul for what? May God have mercy on you. I prayed that you would stop but you just keep doing worse things. Blood sacrifices and all. My blood sacrifice was completed 2000 years ago in the person of Jesus Christ if you have a problem with that talk to Him. I am sorry to dissapoint you I shall live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living.Praise Jesus.Hallelujah!
