The Lime Lifetime Award has this year been awarded to Cadence-lypso legend Gordon Henderson and the Karifuna Cultural Group.
Gordon Henderson, a veteran singer, songwriter and entertainer for more than forty years was the founder of Dominican band, Exile One, which created cadence-lypso music in Guadeloupe in the early seventies.
The Karifuna Cultural Group, since its inception in 1979, has been working to revive and maintain the remaining aspects of the Kalinago culture.
The awardees were recognised at the Creole in the Park’s opening ceremony held on Monday afternoon.
Corporate Communications Manager at LIME Ferdina Frampton was one of many persons recognised for their invaluable contributions to the LIME Creole in the Park.
Craft vendor Miranda Joseph of Shalom Craft was awarded for being the most consistent vendor. According to the citation, Joseph has been vending at the event from its inception.
The event is expected to run from October 22nd to October 25th, 2012 and forms part of Dominica’s 34th Independence celebrations.
