Musical artistes from the Kalinago Territory will take the stage at the Karina Cultural village on September 19 in support of the storm-affected Petite Savanne community, as part of Kalinago week 2015.

The Karifuna and Karina cultural groups along with the Kalinago dancers, Machine Creole and the IC Band will be some of the artistes performing live music to the audience.

These will be joined by independent artistes from the area and performers of Kalinago Got Talent performing renditions in support of the storm ravaged community.

The Kalinago Relief Concert is organized by the Ministry of Kalinago affairs along with the Kalinago Events Committee.

It is expected to be an evening of music, dance and vocal expressions, all in solidarity with the deeply rooted cultural community of Petite Savanne.

There will be lots of local food and drinks on sale and these proceeds along with contributions at the gate will be channeled through to the National Relief Effort.

what kind of division taking place there na, is the kalinago chief involved, is he part of that planning? i think he is willing to relocate kalinago descendants of petite savanne on the territory this is remarkable, so don’t tell me he would not support such an activity,it looks like the event committee and that parl rep really have something against our chief. i am very curious when i see plans like that and you people try to isolate my chief.
Chief is a very good event planner just look at a very successful festival he just from staging and you all are now copying his talent, but failed to include him on a national relief effort shame on you p p with your political divide.

Proper planning must first take place before construction can begin. Give the Government time.

With all that money that the Gov’t has been receiving from local and overseas sources, there should be shelters already being built for the Petite Savanne people. Over 5 million dollars in aid so far and not one structure has been erected??
Dominicans , it is becoming crunch time, it is either your survival or that of your leader! The ball is in your court!

Why the hell don’t you open your doors and take in a family or two? That would ease the burden on the government.

Are you serious??? All that money? We seem to have little idea about costs, need for planning and the deep pocket the government needs to have right now to take care of basic other needs of the people- water, food, clothing, counseling, acute infrastructural needs, getting the airport truly functional which will aid in all of this etc etc. This recovery will take years!! Judgments and more judgments because we who do not know ( including myself) always want to have an opinion about management without facts and figures. The dollars you quoted is just a drop in the bucket. Do you have any clue as to what is costs to run the basic services provided by the govt and then add the disaster on top of that- health, police, fire. People are working tirelessly. Please stop the madness of “I Know what should be done” attitude.

You are clueless and uninformed. Go read and acquire some basic knowledge. I pity you.
