PHOTOS: Chad Astaphan releases debut album

Chad Astaphan has released his debut album called “Playback.”

The event was held at the Fort Young Hotel on Tuesday evening.

Chad burst onto the spotlight after placing second in the 2011 Q Talent Search competition.

He is well known for his hit single  ‘Breath Away’ and his first album contains the singles “Take Me High,” “Gave U Everything” and “Party” .

“Take me High” is written by Chad and produced by Karllian (Falcon Da Don) James of FullyGrown Entertainment (C) 2012. It is is a Club/Pop/Rock inspired song, the artiste indicated in a release.

“Gave U Everything”,  an RnB/Pop inspired song, is described as an emotional ballad and introduces fans to the softer side of the artiste. It was written by Astaphan and produced by McKean Williams.

“Party” is a Techno/Carib Pop which combines the dancehall Caribbean flavour album with a Pop twist, the artiste said.

It was written and produced by Falcon Da Don.

The album, “Playback”, is available in local music outlets and stores. The album also available on ITunes and Amazon.

magweh sah! do any of these ignorant, hating, small minded fools even know that Chad is so comfortable with himself and not threatened by anyone that he had BOTH Asha and Shameka perform at his launching? This allowed them to have the same high class, deep pocket audience that you all are putting down. if tomorrow one of these ppl support Asha or any other artiste that you all feel are less privileged than Chad I really would wonder what will be said then. SMH! I feel sorry for you all. Haterz!Haterz! Haterz!

Dominicans still suffer from that disease called the “inferiority complex”? The fact that he comes from a family that is allegedly well to do is a major issue from what I have read on this page. I love Chat style…..if you do anything don’t just do it well do it exceptionally well. All my support to you Chad. Do it your way. The world is yours for the taking and if you have family members with deep pockets then that is nothing to be ashamed of or make small minded people make you feel guilty about. ONE LOVE

I want to comment Chad Astaphans on a job well done. As a fellow musician, I am very impressed. I however would like to advise a little less auto tuning on the next album. I will purchase a copy and a few to offer as Christmas gifts. I really love the compositions. Very good production.

    Bondieuuuuu Dominicans are the best!

All you vex because Chad has big ideas for himself and a family who is willing to help him realize his goals?

And all you vex cause he launch his album in grand style? So he shouldn’t have done that because he should have considered poor Asher and all the other poor artistes who can’t afford grand launchings and album productions?

    GTFOH with that nonsense!!!!!

i really wish where was something put in place for other artist who may be just as talented as chad it is not easy to do an album release luckily Chad has people who believes in him as much as he believes in his self i dont think he is the best of the best when it comes to vocals but that is something that can be surely worked on the main thing is this dude has a drive and a passion for what he dose and that is most important over all ever thing else can work it self out with time

    • colorblind
      November 22, 2012

You are right. Chad has drive and passion and people who believe in him. Rihanna was not the best of the best when she was introduced and is still developing her singing skills, and doing well in her career. You think Bajans would just dis her?

For those who just focus on the negative, we must learn to give constructive criticism. But alas, we can’t all think constructively.

      • budman
        November 22, 2012

so who is the best of the best? and really who cares? what is important is that these people have a dream and we have a responsibility as fellow citizens to encourage this. Rihanna is a multiple grammy award winner and has sold millions around the globe. you think she and her people care about “best of the best”? show us who is better?

  16. November 22, 2012

I have heard a few of his songs, it seems to be all
DBS et al want to play now and I have to say I am not impressed. I hear people comparing him to truly talented…not lucky/fortunate people. His voice in all of the songs sounds synthesized

God please help those poorer more talented artists

my friend in the music business that’s what called Payola…. meaning labels, execs, artists pay d.j’s and radio stations to play their songs…. and Chad’s family has the money to spend to ‘buy’ there way into stardom… thing is dominica is so small and dude can’t compete with regional, far more international artists… i think he needs to lose at least 15 pounds, if not then he should practice to play the piano and look professional… the whole chris brownish dancing not going with his size and image at all… i always felt like Dominicans oooohhhinng and awwwiiinnnggg over any little thing… and want no criticism… again Dude is doing his thing but if u don’t have u don’t have it… simple pimple… did Colton T need all that charade to be traveling n touring in U.S etc…. nooooo cause he’s talented and his music shows it…. Chad has talent but it needs to be nurtured and not forced on the public…

i saw a poster wrote that is higher class that supporting Chad’s music…. well i was going to touch on that on my first post but i thought the ‘HATER BRIGADE’ would be offended…. but honestly… if dude wants to carry himself clean cut that’s good… but if it’s a situation where u act all ‘high society’ etc…. here’s a newsflash… the majority aint high society so dude better not be on that high horse stuff or else he’ll fall off hard…. use Dice, Asa and Colton as examples.. all down to earth and identify with the masses…. Chad right now only has the support of the college students who know him… the corporate citizens who fund his payola to force his music to be played and a strong family unit (which of course i wish i had) who’ll go head over heels to see him to the top…. but remember if u can’t identify with the masses… no amount of money will save your career…

stop being Sheep people, all Chad’s fans are the people of the upper upper class of society and those in the lower upper class who wants to be his friends.Because there are people who are just as talented or even more talented and cant pull ministers and queen contestants to there event or even afford to rent out fort young. I think this release was great and it is setting the bar quite high for the future DA song stars. We are too quick to embrace mediocrity in Dominica.

you obviously have not heard Chad sing live. Last night Chad performed at his launching and rocked the crowd in attendance. Chad is different from what is the norm to Dominica and ppl here can’t handle being different. I challenge anyone to get 5 ppl who were at the launching who were not impressed with the event especially Chad’s performance. There is only 1 song on the album that has auto tune and Chad has explained the reasons why he chose to put it, and it is not to cover up his voice or lack of it. sorry your dreams are not coming true, but Chad is working hard on making his come true! Sit back and take a lesson.

i appreciate the fact dude is doing his thing… but i’d swear say is a mega star that having a release… i haven’t heard enough quality track to see all that hype… i believe a guy like asher thomas would be more deserving of such a treatment… so chad i wish u the best but always remember how the business works… all that is spent for you has to be paid back off your ‘sales’… so u must not let guys spend lavishly for you… be humble, give out quality and increase your base and following then u can have banquet style releases fit for folks like Michele H and Ophelia….

Seeing that you know for a fact that he got dough, I assume your his accountant. as with most Dominicans most of you run your mouths without having all the fact. #1. Chad has tremendous family support, and that what happen when ppl love you. #2. There were quite a few corporate citizens that recognize and talent chad has and believes in him and gave their full support. #3. Chad has never settled for mediocrity when it comes to his art, and music is just 1 of the ways Chad expresses his talent. All of you who are ok with mediocrity, accept my sympathy. Chad we are proud of you and ppl with standards, class and vision will always support you once you keep up the good work.
