For years many have rallied around the West Indies
Celebrating numerous victories
Game by game the Caribbean people have been supportive
With a radio to the ears, they keenly listen live cricket
Glued to the television, jumping in a frenzy
In the pavilion chanting, screaming, rejoicing as our team claim victory
Where has it gone? The passion for the game
The love for the sport, it’s just not the same
We’ve got talented players
We’ve got winners
Yet we struggle to put together the best line up to challenge our opponents
When will we convincingly win a tournament?
We’ve been back and forth as the powers that be lose control
WIPA vs WICB, someone’s ignoring their role
Abusing the game
Inflicting pain
Stop! West Indies cricket board I urge you to stop and listen
The ills of the game has become over bearing
Your response to the situations at hand is frustrating
painfully disappointing
Stop! you’re destroying our game
Stop! I repeat stop destroying our game
Leave all egos at the door or resign from your post
I repeat leave all egos at the door or resign from your post
Caribbean people it’s time we speak loud and clear
We need to speak up, we need to show how much we care
The situation/condition which our cricket is in cannot be ignored and as Caribbean people we must speak about it. We cannot ignore the glory days and the present day condition of the game.
written like a true westindian, thumbs to that.
This poem more seems to be written by a true West Indian who spends his time watching the Antarctic and Martian Premier Cricket Leagues.
In some people’s flawed logic, the WICB alone is to be blamed for all the ills in West Indies cricket. The players and their troublemaker organisation, WIPA, have no blame in the matter either. It seems the WICB has never performed one iota of good for West Indies cricket.
