Radio contest for WCMF tickets

WCMF LogoThose interested in attending this year’s staging of Dominica’s signature event, the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), now have a chance to win themselves complimentary tickets through a radio contest.

The contest, which was launched on Tuesday, will begin this week on every radio station, Marketing Assistant at the Dominica Festival’s Committee (DFC), Marva Williams said at a press conference.

“We are pleased again to offer patrons another exciting opportunity, where you get the chance to win, whether it be nightly or season tickets, to the WCMF and we are officially launching it this morning,” she said on Tuesday.

According to Williams the contest is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to patrons for their support.

“It is another way of saying thank you to our patrons and most of the support that we get is from the Dominican public,” she stated. “So thank you for the support you have given in the past and the support you have given in the near future.”

Williams explained listeners will know when the contest is on when a jingle saying “mizik a nou” is sung by Leroy ‘Wadix’ Charles.

The contest will be on during the following times:
-DBS Radio on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12.40 pm, 3.15 pm 4.30 pm.
-Kairi FM daily during DJ Mystic’s program from 2-3pm
-Vibes Radio with DJ Smooth between 2.30-3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
– Q95 FM during the mid-day show with Matt Pelteir 12.30-1.30 pm.

Williams said further that a survey for the supporting casts at the festival, which has been on for the past several weeks, will shut down midnight on Friday.

“So if you want to show your support to all the bands and the solo artiste, there you have your last chance this week,” she said.

She said the results of the survey will be announced within the next two weeks.
