Scaled down version of Mas Domnik 2018 launched

A scene from Carnival Tuesday 2017

A scaled down version of Mas Domnik 2018 for Dominica was officially launched on Friday morning.

There were questions whether there will be Carnival in Dominica following the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria in September last year but CEO of the Discover Dominica Authority, Colin Piper, announced in November 2017 that a plan was being put together for the staging of the event.

The official launch of the event on Friday showed the event is definitely on although it will be on a much smaller scale than the usual Mas Domnik.

Major events such as the Miss Dominica Pageant, the Princess Show and the opening parade of Carnival are absent from the list of events.

If you all we there to experience such a horrendous event as hurricane maria..none of y’all would be saying such hateful words. Yes things are down but that does not mean life stopped. It does not mean we should not celebrate. Carnival is a celebration a time to come together because we need that now more than ever… So stop hating

The PM was national TV crying when Maria destroyed Dominica, he went begging countries for materials and financial help, now its carnival time, everybody ready to blow all their money on 2 days jump up. Dominicans have money to waste.

It’s because Dominicans don’t care and always need to have a good time

I think the idea is fine. Some people like vendors and the little hotels we have left need the revenue to move forward and keep their employees. Will it solve the economic crisis? Absolutely not…but it will help some people. I’m pretty sure people aren’t just sitting around doing nothing. From some reports people have been helping one another especially in the country areas…a little 2 days of free up and coming together is fine…nothing wrong with that. Behave yourselves, especially the young people, be responsible, no time for violence. Buy a little beer, a soft drink, a fry chicken and support your neighbor. DON’ T OVER DO! DON’T BUY $500 costumes…so not needed at this time. Enjoy a peaceful and quiet mas Dominik 2018

Wouldn’t it be better to spend those two days volunteering our time helping with the cleaning, rebuilding and repairing of our island?
Imagine what we could accomplish using those two days and the positive PR to the rest of the world.

You get a break when you’re sleeping…bringing Dominica back to what is was is more important than 2 days jump up
