Twenty-six-year old Shermain Valerie of St Joseph, a mother of “one beautiful little girl”, has been crowned the winner of the Mothers’ Queen Show held here on Friday night.
Her other awards include Miss Photogenic, best in creative wear, and Miss Intelligence.
Third runner up at the Krazy Kokonut-held show was Shernelle Cadette, second runner up was Tamika Larocque, and first runner up Karen Sexieus.
Tamika took the best creative wear, Miss Amity award and best swimwear, while best talent went to Shernelle, and Mislin Graham got the prize for best evening wear.
Shermain told DNO that she felt “great about winning, all the hard work paid off”.
An employee of Sharma’s Home Décor, the triumphant mother said she “achieved all what I wanted” by capturing the crown.
Each contestant received a rose, a participation plaque and a bottle of wine.
The show was intended to set the stage for a meaningful observance of Sunday’s Mothers’ Day celebrations in Dominica.
The competition was described by one avid pageant lover as one in which all the young mothers gave a good account of themselves on stage.
“They were all beautiful, confident and talented and proved that mothers are beautiful too,” the observant woman, a former Miss Dominica contestant, told DNO.
“I think the organisers of the show really wanted to bring across the message that mothers too are beautiful and talented,” she concluded.
The talent on display there ranged from dance to monologue-type presentations.

One hiccup was the long wait for the show to start. All the contestants were not present over an hour after the show was due to start! Smh. Only in Dominica.

Is there a family name “Sexieus”in Dominica? its the first time I’m hearing of that name, is she a foriegner?Most time when I would hear a surname mentioned, I would associate it to a certain village, but this surname, I’m baffled. All the same congratulations to Miss Shermain of St.Joseph
Yes “Sexieus” is a surname in Dominica but I dont know if it came from Guadeloupe because in Guadeloupe “Sextius” ok.
