EHS: Signal Band sees a big future for Bouyon

Signal Band
Signal Band

Bouyon band, Signal Band, has released a single which highlights the potential of the Bouyon genre to dominate the international market and have its musicians touring the world.

The band sees Bouyon as a powerful element of Dominica’s culture, and in the song, calls on the other Bouyon artists and DJ’s to endorse the mission and not give up until the genre “takes over the word.”

According to a release from Signal Band, “The vibrant bouyon beat blends in sweetly with the melodic lines of Sheldon’s unique voice.”

The song was written and performed by Sheldon “Shelly” Alfred and it was produced by Dernel Green(Lead Keyboardist and programmer of the band) and Sheldon Alfred.

The band says it plans to ‘set positive eyes on the image of Dominica’s young talent.’

“We released a Groovy Soca single entitled “All Ah That” last week which also got great reviews. We promise to do all we can see that our songs goes far because the messages are important.”

Signal Band also promises that “towards the ending of this year should be massive for the band. We don’t want to spill any beans but by November, the people who didn’t know Signal Band will have a fair idea of who this group of young talented men are.”

For bookings, Signal can be contacted at 615 3554, 316 3380 [email protected].

Weh Weh weh. You “Dominicans” cannot seem to support your own. And esepcially as these guys are young. Give them motivation. It’s not just what you say but how you say it. That song is great Signal Band. Kudos to you guys! Keep it up! Heard you’ll be getting a little spot on WCMF. Surely looking forward.

You guys really think bouyon taking over anything when what I just heard is the same old Triple k style crap? The intro to every song does not have to be a minute long. There should be no need to call out the names of everyone you know on every track. That is something that is common in bouyon and it makes it hard for anyone who knows nothing of the people you are talking about to relate to. My biggest complaints are:
Get someone who can actually sing to sing!
Get someone capable of writing sensible lyrics to write!
Get someone who is capable of creating more melodies.
After all Bouyon is a mix of all. Go back to the late 90s CK and Seranade and you will notice more verity in the melodies. No longer can we hear any of the old traditional instruments in the beats all about drum machines. I applaud you guys for doing something constructive but take notes. Listen to caribbean soca and you will see that we are not on the level of the other islands. Just look at Nayee, soca is a better choice.

I agree, Dominicans too like mediocrity and want to bash anybody that doh like it as a hater or bringing down SMH sakway sot. If you praise something just because it comes from us and it’s garbage it will be bad for them in the long run when they try to further their “careers” and get laughed at or worse

Bouyon music will take over the world when we bring back good vocals, good melody, a story line in our writing, good arrangement, more musicians less computer (why can’t we see a real man playing a cowbell if you get my drift) with authentic brass and purcautions. Music is appriciated most whem i can go see a band play, site down and enjoy the performance. When bouyon reach that level then it will conquer the world. Until then it will be lapau cabrit on steroids

I wish you luck fellers, honestly I do but aren’t you flogging a dead horse? Bouyon has been around for twnty five years now, ancient by popular music standards. It has not really progressed beyond the boundaries of Dominica for all those years. If you really want to hit the big time I believe your talents would be better spent by developing your own, inique sound that has a wider appeal, away from that tired bouyon. As I said, “good luck”.

you guys are talented and full of energy.

    a few bits of advice.

    1. get videos made. without videos you are wasting your time. Tempo won’t play audio.

    2. slow down the pace of singing

    3. sing on issues everyone out of d/ca can identify with

Stupes for how many years they trying to get bouyon on the international stage with no success. I don’t have much faith that will ever happen. The music is seriously lacking, the sound, lyrics, melody, everything is just so mediocre.

Take over the world? I will give you an A for ambition. But I would not count on it. You will have to take over Dominica first since a lot of Dominicans don’t even like bouyon.
