Thousands of Dominicans gathered at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Sunday evening where they joined hands in Praise and Worship during a Reunion Thanksgiving Gospel Concert to strengthen Dominica.
The concert dubbed “Repent, Rejoice and Restore” which was hosted by the Dominica Festivals Commission (DFC), featured popular Nigerian female Gospel Music artiste, Osinachi ‘Sinach’ Joseph.
“Now is the time for all of us to gather in one place to worship Him [God], reflect on our lives…and rejoice in God’s goodness and love for all of us,” Prime Minister Roosevelt said while delivering an address at the event.
According to him this is a time to rebuild Dominica and to rejoice.
“It is a time to rebuild, making use of the knowledge and experiences of the past so that our present and our future is not wrecked by the effect of climate change,” he stated. “I have told you before and I will say it again, that all hands should be on deck in rebuilding a resilient Dominica.”
He issued an appeal for all to join in that undertaking.
“Join us with the understanding that the right thing to do is to act virtuously rather than just talk about doing so,” he said.
The prime minister also advised people to avoid doing good things with an ulterior motive, because good deeds, he said must come from their hearts and for the glory of God.
“This is also a time to collectively give thanks to God for the awesome renewal for the appearance and landscape of Dominica that has occurred over the past year,” Skerrit noted, saying Dominicans have managed to work together to make Dominica “rise in its splendor from the ruins of Hurricane Maria with the assistance of a number of friendly governments…”
“Let us continue to lift them up in thanksgiving to our God who makes all things possible,” Skerrit said and called on the nation to remain united in its determination to maintain Dominican values and way of life.
“We must remain aware of that which holds us together… if we do this and share the word we will be able to move one step closer to the Dominica that I envisioned where all of us can prosper together,” Skerrit indicated.
He thanked Sinach for her selflessness in responding to the social needs of “our sisters and brothers.”
Apart from exploring Dominica’s natural springs and rivers, Sinach visited inmates at the State Prison and residents at the Dominica Infirmary during her visit.

Is it a coincident that this concert was held on the feast of Christ the King? Just asking.
I loved this concert. We need more of these in our country (wink wink) to our religious organizations. We were once a country of prayer and harmony and we were always so positive. But as I see the numbers in church dwindle, the more I see negativity increase.
I will always say that even though you don’t believe in the existence of the “christ” or “god”. You can be in the middle of a fire (figuratively speaking), your faith, what happens between you and your god can keep you mentally and emotionally grounded. When you go to church we are not going for Pastor Rodney, Monsignor Jno Lewis or Father Joe. These are people with their own fault and failures. We go to emit the positivity coming from our hearts. I find voting to be very silly and quite ironic that you use your hands to get a person elected and soon after, weeks, months or years, you have to use the same hands to get them out, some times even by force. Dominicans i fear are really getting stupid. The PM wants all hands on deck calling the name of the lord but he did not see it fit to invite the opposition on stage to show unity. Why wasnt all parties including opposition parties offered an olive branch & invited on stage so all could get blessings. If I say all hands on deck; that implies everybody be involved in building construction, rebuilding the infrastructure, which includes public roads, and government buildings. Is it Roosevelt intention to pay everyone in the nation to become employed in rebuilding the country.
Secondly, there are people whose homes are destroyed, who does not have a single penny to buy food to keep them alive; can these people put hands on deck to rebuild their country, when they cannot rebuild their own property which they lost?
This might be foreign to Roosevelt if he need a list of people who’s homes no longer exists, living with relatives even out of Dominica, he knows how to find, and get in touch with me, I can give him a list with the names of people who lost everything they had, and will never recover because they are sick, old and cannot work!

Was this concert really hosted by the Dominica Festival Commission? It is rather strange that not one of the officials from the DFC staff were part of the weekend’s activities with Sinach. It appears that negativity and constant complaining all the time has consumed some to the point where they will never see positive or be able to even think positive. As the song says, a big stone is in the road affecting everyone and all we choose to do is complain about the stone, asking who put it there and why it is there but will never ask to come together to move the stone. I believe some people have become so negative and has gone to that place of no return where only complain about every single thing is their daily routine. One will even go as far to blame others such as politicians for the complaining mode they find themselves in as if to say they don’t even analyze for themselves.
