St. Lucia captures Miss Carival 2012 crown

Miss St . Lucia Roxanne Didier Nicholas
Roxanne Didier Nicholas of St. Lucia outperformed nine other contestants from across the region to capture the Miss Carival 2012 crown in St. Vincent on Friday night.
Carice Glasgow of St Vincent won the first runner-up position while Davia Chambers of Trinidad secured second runner-up.
Reigning Miss Dominica and Miss Caribbean World Nadira Lando failed to secure a position.
The results are as follows:
Best in swim wear Carice Glasgow of St. Vincent
Best interview Davia Chambers of Trinidad
Best evening wear Kalia Huggins of St. Kitts
Best talent Roxanne Didier Nicholas of St. Lucia
Miss Community spirit Olufunmike Majorie Bands Devonish of Anguilla
Miss Congeniality Astrid Andrena Hidalgo Martinez of Venezuela
Miss Photogenic Charlene Christmas of Barbados
The pageant, in its 27th year, was held as part of St. Vincent’s carnival celebrations.
Last year’s winner of the crown was Iantavian Queeley of St. Kitts.
Organizers of the pageant say some of its objectives include fostering greater linkages and bonds between the Caribbean islands, encouraging contestants, chaperones and patrons to go to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to showcase the beauty and diversity of Caribbean young women.

I think the top of the swimsuit was a setback for Miss Dominica..and they chose the wrong colour dress for her…I did not fancy the top of Miss St.Lucia’s dress either..i guess she did good in some other round thats y she won

she wore it twice i don’t think it’s proper 2 wear it in ANOTHER regional competition, what they need 2 do is make a dress and swimsuit that’s as good as the first, and fits properly too
I was at the Show and i watched all of it and the Results were fair and just. All the awards were correct and Ms DA did not stand out in any categories nor did i see her placing anywhere in the top 3 so i don’t know why people are complaining. Just because she won pageants before doesn’t mean she will win them all. The majority of these girls were just better than her.
and this is what most of us fail to realize…winning previous shows does not mean that one will win all shows. but i am happy it happened like that…just shows how unjust our people can be.i think its moreless popularity that we look for. i dont personally kno Jacinta but Because she didnt win regional crowns last year many said she didnt deserve her local title.so what can we imply about Miss Lando? her talent at Miss Dominica pageant was not the best.
It would be real nice for one of our contestants to go out there and put out some serious bele to give people shivers.
What happen to the kalinago dance, face paint, arrow in hand, kalinago language… Nadira is the best person right now to TRULY represent DOMINICA.
Transform the girl from our indigenous to our exotic CARIBbean beauty!
With all this culture we get too caught up in the screaming and shouting on stage.
Nadira is not just another regular West Indian girl, she is true representation of our still standing indigenous peoples, please make use of that.

Hey we can’t always win ok. So well done Nadira for representing DA and giving it your best shot. My only advice to you next time is: “never drop a RED dress for a BLUE”.

I am shocked Miss Dominica did not win any catergory.
Nadira is a beautiful intelligent young lady. My only advice to her is that she must wear make up all the time as long as she is queen. Nothing too heavy a little lipstick and eye shadow. People judge you off stage too. So keep well groomed at all times. It won’t take much effort as she is a natural beauty.
i agree…a queen should always be prepared for a tv interview…usually she looks dry..as u said light make up will do the trick…thats why kamala will always be one of DA’s top queens..always well groomed

I watched the show and I had Ms. Dominica capturing the best in swimwear award. She showed real confidenc in that round. I would have given her 3rd. runner up. The following short comings may have affected her.Her talent was very weak, and she faltered a bit in her answer to the question on her biography. Additionally I was disappointed when they let down her hair in the evening wear round. Her hair should have been in a bun. Also, she should have won the red dress she had on the night of the Ms. Dominica pageant. Her team need to change her talent. All that talking does impact the audience far more the judges. I think the judges saw dancing, singing, and pan playing as real talent. Good luck in the Jaycees. I will be watching.
Are you serious? Were you guys there at the pageant. Please remember beauty and brains don’t win a pageant. Miss Dominica was out performed by the other contestants. If you thin about it all of the girls at Miss Caribbean World are not their country’s reigning Queens. So, she completed with some contestants who didn’t even win or place in their respective shows. Give the other girls compliments for doing a good job. Nadira was never in the running.
Nadira is still our Queen she did her best and i am sure she had fun,so my girl hold ur head up high and move on.
A tourist/Anthropologist spent 3 mths in Dominica exploring Human Behavior.. He lived among Dominicans as a man just looking to have a good time and left Dominica with this..

I didn’t get to see the pageant but I know Miss Nadira has a few more pagents left. We need to uplift her since she is our representative regardless if she was or wasn’t our favourite.. WE- DOMINICANS need to stand with our own!! Support our own!!
She only has jayces in antigua left.
Her name is not on the list of contestants for the miss culture in stkitts. Looks like Dominica is NOT taking part this year

The jaycees show is a hard one to win Dominica has been doing well over the past 4 yrs. i watched the ms Carival and i noticed a lot of weakness in Ms Dominica First of all her walk has to change she lift her knees too high so that i one thing they need to work on if they want her to win the jaycees. I agree with the writer that spoke about her hair being down they should never have let it down …. I will b at the jaycees live as i have alays over the yrs and i will tell you she has to b extra good…she need to take the criticisms an work on them.

the top had structural problems! one side big an one small, I am an open minded person when it comes to fashion. Sometimes antisymmetry works but not on the breast and hips..it always tend to make the person look deformed and Nadira looks like she has gained some weight! Did you notice that the top three were very skinny

Something went wrong for Ms Lando. This calls for an investigation. This result without any mention of Lando in a category speaks of issues that we do not know about but serious enough to merit emmidiate attention. Please help our beauty queen. She must not be left to perish.

She must have done very well in all rounds. Besides people were talking about how well Ms Lucia and T&T was, way before the show, they well deserve their placing

I was at the show and it is a disgrace what these judges did. many people were in real shock cause Nadira had the best answered question and the best in photos. Some of the men on the hosting committee kept saying She is a natural beauty, and has such an infectuous smile and that they were in disbelief. In all my years of watching pageant, I have never seen such an unfair judging. Miss Trinidad did not even answered the question she was asked. That explains why they took almost 2 hours before they could give the results. They knew exactly what they were up too. Dominica should refrain from taking part in miss Carival pageant period!!!
I agree. I also saw the show and Nadira did the best in the interview. I really do not understand what went wrong. I do not get it.

She answered the second question to perfection but the first wasnt answered properly,.i believe the reason why she wasnt placed is bcuz of her talent, it was the same talent she perfomed in miss caribbean world, it was weak compared to the others..
Is natural beauty an automatic for winning a competition? Get real, i think consistency is essential.

Are you surprised not a single nasty comment! Nadira did her best that was not good enough. I heard her dress and swimwear wasn’t up to the grade and they’re very very important also I’m hearing nothing about her talent. Nadira you should stick to your old dress and talent..if it’s not broken don’t fix it!!!!!!!!

One more thing because St Vincent hosting they must place every year (good or bad) SMH..
Well Well Well…Congrats to Miss St. Lucia…and may Miss Dominica take that as a wake up call for that attitude she has picked up…Don’t forget where you came from and the people you knew growing up because You have captured 2 titles so far…it doesn’t mean anything…Education means all! Once the winner deserved the crown and the pageant was fairly judged, congratulations to her.
I Listened to the show live and I think that the show this year was of a very high standard. I think from the commentaries that all the girls
performed extremely well and even to the end of the show it was difficult to place who would win. I think the judges had a tough decision on their hands
However, we have to look forward to the future. Nadira It is time to look forward you know what you are up against, Thanks for your representation last night… prepare for Jaycees. Dominica is with you.

What I was not there but I am speculating that there was a conspiracy against ms DA. Not even a second runner up.
