Patrons of the Dominica’s biggest signature event the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) are being given a chance to choose the supporting cast for the event.

This is being done through a survey put together by the Dominica Festival Committee (DFC).

“We have developed a wide cadre of groups and individuals and it is very simple,” DFC’s events assistant, Marva Williams explained. “Be part of our Facebook page, visit our website as constantly as you can and get the opportunity to be a part of this survey.”

Through the survey patrons will have the opportunity to “be part of choosing the supporting cast in WCMF,” she noted.

Some of the local artistes and bands in the survey include Suede entertainment, The beat, SOS band, Digital Vybez, RMD Band, Kross Vybez, 8th Note Jazz band, Ti Orchest, Signal Band, Caribbean Vybez among others.

Solo artistes include Golda, Steely man, Divine Songz, Lyric, and Beetle J.

More bands and artistes will be added as time goes by.

However, Williams noted that there are only six open slots that needs to be filled.

She also pointed out that that the aim of the excercise is “to expose Dominica’s exciting music culture to the worldwide audience and to develop the capacity of the local music industry and event management professionals.”

Persons interested in participating in the survey should visit the WCMF’s website at wcmfdominica.com or the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DominicaFests.

WCMF 2014 will be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium from October 24 to 26.

iT Beats me , what do you all understand Supporting cast to mean ? the DFC is seeking acts to fill the Secoundary Stage not the main stage and who told any of you that the WCK Band is not on the lineup, Last i checked the DFC Announced a partial lineup at the festival Launch so get off the Emo People.

I am very disturbed at your comments asking for comment to supporting acts to the WCMF The DFC must and should never forget that it was WCK from year one that have made Dominica and Dominicans world wide to enjoy and participate in this Festival I can say to to that most fans prefer to listen to WCK than KKK their repartois of songs are more preferred and their is one person on the DFC who is advocating that WCK stays off the festival and makes sure that KKK is included. If the Telephone company LIME could bring the Original WCK to the CITP why can’t the DFC do the same and then the DFC would be responsible to the other former members because there are some original members who are greedy that’s why they are not together with the band ,come on DFC the present manager of KKK is not the DFC .

Sorry but Nasio Fontaine cannot be in this category of ‘supporting cast’ if you know what I mean! Did you see Nasio Fontaine is a headline act. Period. His last appearance at WCMF he was ‘The’ headline act. After he brought down the stadium people started leaving, satisfied. You don’t get any better than that. Elevated!

I think the issue is that (and I may be wrong) they want to do just that with him, categorize this most popular artist that patrons know all his songs and sing along, even louder than the man on stage. What an artist. By categorizing Nassio they may not want to pay for his act as much as they pay for even the Jamacian hot-plate singers that cannot even hold a show on their own. Class acts like Nasio Fontaine and Kassav people just can’t get enuff of them. They will always sell extra tickets to ensure a successful festival.

I doubt that people see Nasio as a supporting cast… I think they (myself included) are just using any forum available to ask for his return. We love you Nasio!!!!!

If the DFC requires a survey to have Nasio Fontain Dominica’s best Reggae international Performer on stage for the WCMF, I think all the management Staff should go because they do not know what they are doing.

Why is it Nasio is never part of this event? He is from Dominica and it would be nice to have him play at the event. We Dominicans are giving away all the money to foreign bands and after the event they go back to their country with the money. Then we say Dominica is hard. All these things we need to consider if we want to build this nation. You people are underestimating the volume of musical talent this Dominica owns. Please give it some thought.

The survey should be done soon after the festival is over ..so we could tell you who we wanna see…people don’t wanna see no irrelevant artist…franky tabbooo combo…don’t get me wrong they were great artist…think we should have more of today’s hit makers on the bill…think Stephen Marley should be there this year…this kid is on fire.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Well I won’t be taking part in this survey because I can’t give Mark Zuckerberg my information for free. He then give the CIA your information and he makes Billions of dollars selling you all information. Wake up and smell the coffee because he rip off his two friends who created Facebook with him.
I just want to be assured that I will be able to rent a SUV during the festival.

    • July 10, 2014

Hello and good morning my people. Well I see that I received six thumbs down but I would prefer that you attached your displeasure to my post. In that way I can show you how Mr Zuckerberg is selling you profile and allowing the CIA and NSA to tap into Facebook database. Anyway haven’t any of you read the Edward Snowden files.
