Waraka Séwinal Festival kicks off

The annual Waraka Séwinal Festival has commenced in Atkinson.

The event, which is set to take place through the weekend, kicked off this afternoon with the Miss Noel Competition at the Atkinson Primary School.

Following this show, the action moves to Antrizzle for a ‘Séwinal Splash.’

Public Relations Manager for the Waraka Séwinal Festival Committee, Gregory Rabbess, said the main event will be a Grand Séwinal Concert on Saturday, December 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. featuring Séwinal bands and other performers from the community and other areas in Dominica.

“From 11:00 p.m. the action continues with a Street Party featuring the Swinging Stars. This Festival promises to yield excellent material for your Christmas season programming now and for years to come as we showcase the best of Christmas Séwinal and carol singing traditions in Dominica,” he said.
