Waseen Dominic takes sensay costumes to Bermuda Festival

A group of Dominica nationals, Waseen Dominic Association residing on St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, will travel to Bermuda this weekend to showcase a Sensay Carnival Troupe during Bermuda’s annual Gombey Festival.

Bermuda’s Cultural Affairs Division invited the group of 15 men and women to perform during cultural events to be held on Saturday September 25 in Bermuda.

The group is led by Paul Alexander, President of Waseen Dominic Association. Alexander is also a candidate for senator in the upcoming general elections to be held on November 2, 2010  in the US Virgin Islands.

For the last two years the group has been participating in St. Thomas Carnival parade with sensay costumes and have drawn tremendous amount of attention.

In 2008 the Sensay Troupe won second place in St. Thomas carnival parade.

I tink it is a wonderful idea. It is time for the sennse to find it’s rightful place in carnival celebrations. I think that is one of the ways Dominica’s Carnival should be marketed. Good job Lawa.
