On the ground promotions are beginning to heat up, as Dominica’s biggest event-the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) draws closer.

Beginning this weekend the Festival Dwive at the Krazy Kokonutz and the WCMF ticket train will kick off the hype locally.

Marketing Assistant at the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) Marva Williams told the media at a press conference on Tuesday, that patrons along the route to Laplaine can begin collecting their funds so they could take advantage of the special offers which they will be having during those times.

“This week our road shows will begin and the first road show will begin at Laplaine at Kentos Bar together with Kubuli,” she said.

However she pointed out that the EC$ 200 ticket special will only last until the 30th September 2014, and it was too soon to know what the new ticket special price will be.

“Moving forward, the following weekend we will be moving to Grand Bay where we will be doing a promotion as well we will be bringing the season tickets to patrons.”

The following weekend they will head to the second town of Portsmouth, “to continue building the momentum.”

“So we are calling the people of Canefield, Roger, Sultan, Pond Case, Rosalie, Grand Fond, Riviere Cyrique, Morne Jaune, and of course Laplaine to look for the WCMF ticket train its coming your way, you have the opportunity to put your monies aside and purchase your season tickets at only EC$ 200,” Williams stated.

Local DJ’s will provide entertainment and Gold Partner Digicel and Kubuli beer will conduct promotions where people can get opportunities to win tickets and other prizes.

Meanwhile, Marketing Executive Leroy “Wadix” Charles continues to promote the event in the French West Indies, Antigua, St. Lucia and ultimately, Trinidad.

Williams also mentioned that their supporting cast survey is now closed, however, in a future press conference they will announce who was chosen to provide entertainment in that segment and in the cultural segment.

She said the support which was given to the survey was “well received,” with over 10,000 visits being made the WCMF website just because of that survey.

“It shows that Dominicans and even the patrons are showing tremendous support to our young and upcoming bands,” Williams stated.

My only issue with this year is that there was a pole set up to vote for the local band you wnat ot see on the festival. CROSS VYBZ was leading and I did vote for them myself but they are not on the line up. Somebody explain that to me please. They have bands that were not even on the pole. I need to know before I purchase my ticket.

    To Marva Williams.

Hello and good afternoon my people. I am coming home for the Fest and Independence but the issue I have is that. I sent five Emails to four vehicle rental companies and they all said that they don’t have any vehicles available so how they expect us to tour the country and attend events. The price of the tickets isn’t an issue for me I need a rental vehicle.

There are WAY MORE than just four vehicle rentals on island. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

So when exactly are you going to reach Trinidad? The WCMC starts in less than a month. People don’t usually get up, book a ticket, hotel, rental car on the spur of the moment. Some people need to plan and save for those endeavours.

I can understand a going for a second visit at this time, but the promotion in those places like Trinidad which is not a traditional market should have been done a long time ago. What about Barbados, St. Vincent and Grenada?
