WCMF ticket bargain in August

ticketFrom now till the end of August, patrons of the annual World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) can join the queue and secure their season tickets for a bargain price of EC$200.

Season tickets are usually sold at EC$ 325.

The CEO of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA)/Director of Tourism Colin Piper announced the special price at a weekly press conference held at the office of the Dominica Festival’s Committee (DFC) on Tuesday 18th August 2015.

“In the month of August, and only in the month of August, we have a $200 special going for season tickets,” he said. “You come in, you present your picture ID, you get a receipt, you hold on to that receipt, and after September 1, you come back and then you exchange your receipt for your ticket.”

But the quantity is not unlimited, he informed.

“We have a quantity of 500 tickets, for sale at the price of $200,” he noted. “We are now going to allow people to come into the DFC office and purchase their ticket. We will be going back out with Digicel every Friday as long as supplies last. So the first thing that we want to do, is to ensure that those 500 are gone, and so that’s a special for the patrons out there.”

He said in the event that the allocated tickets are sold out, there could be more deals for patrons.

“Secure your spot for the festival,” Piper urged.

WCMF 2015 will be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium from October 30 to November 1.

Telecommunications company, Digicel, is once again providing gold sponsorship for the event.

What happens when other artists from the Creole speaking nations decide to boycott this year’s festival? Will there be a refund to those who pay for their tickets in advance?

500 x $200 = $100,000. They need that money now so that tells me they have a cash flow problem. Hold on still, prices will come down later also. Money must be really tight but we all know that already.
I have one question though. If for some reason they cancel the WCMF or cut back on it, will you get a refund?

Are we a poor country we find money to go to concerts but we cannot buy books to send our children to school. How much money are we going to spend buying liquor , thousands , but we settle for being proffesional beggers when it comes to paying for health care , house taxes and many other items. The college kids will find the money to go. And when they use the bathroom at the college they steal all the toilet paper and block the bathroom with stones.
