Chairman of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) DOCK, Dr. Vince Henderson has proposed an establishment of a standing inter-ministerial committee to deal with climate change resilience.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Resilience held at the State House on Wednesday.
“I proposed earlier that we established a standing inter-ministerial committee to deal with climate change resilience which can serve a multi, perhaps, purpose in the sense that it can create also an opportunity for discussing policies, whether it is the agriculture policy, the energy policy, have the benefit of the input of different ministries of government, different department of government,” he stated.
Dr. Henderson explained that even if a friend is in livestock, “he could help us with some ideas in fisheries and the experts in agriculture can have some contribution on energy so that we can all benefit from the collective knowledge of our experts within the government system, and therefore, I propose that we establish and inter-ministerial committee on climate change resilience.”
According to him, that same committee could also serve to advise on preparation especially for the hurricane season.
“So that collaboration, creating opportunities for innovation should at least bring in all the departments of government and could serve as the interface to the private sector and the non-governmental organizations,” he noted.
Meantime Dr. Henderson said at the three-day workshop held at state house has strengthened this position that Dominicans have the capacity to develop strategies needed for development.
“Clearly it seems that we have the ideas that could generate the solutions,” he said. “What we need to do is to be able to have that kind of discussion where we can place our ideas and our suggestions on the table because clearly we have what it takes. I have been making t his argument for a long time, two years ago we came here and we made the same argument when we were establishing the Caribbean centre for renewable energy and energy efficiency, and I said then that we have the ability, we have the skills, we have the expertise, our children have been trained in the same Universities around the world, they have the same abilities, but they have not gotten the opportunity, the exposure, sometimes the guidance that they need.”
He noted further, hence the reason SIDS DOCK was established as an international organization to give Dominica’s the opportunities, “so that we don’t always have to sit back and wait for experts from somewhere else, that we can build that expertise among ourselves so we can help to build our own countries, our own regions and of course making our contribution to humanity.”

Another hoopla, another bunch of baloney talk, another reason to form a committee, of which the so call members of the committee will walk away with a check out of the peoples treasury dipped in the blood of the poor Dominican.
It is another way of finding work for the red devils dressing in red worshiping their god Skerrit. Dominica contributes nothing to climate change, Dominica is not an industrialized island, nothing is going on in Dominica that generates or emit pollutants into the atmosphere to have an effect on the ice glaciers of the earth, nor cause damage to the ozone layer allowing world temperatures to rise!
The only thing Henderson and the rest of the clowns can do to help is to shut down the electrical electricity generating plants, and stop using gasoline in the country, other than that there is nothing these talking pea brain guys can don beside flap their gums!

One way in which Skerrit and Vince can help is to develop the nation to a point where people can stop coking food outdoors on open wood fire, in those old big pots, and smoke bellowing into the atmosphere, and remember the feces in the pit-holes generate a gas similar to methane, so eliminate all the pit-holes filled with feces in the country, then you can start dipping into affairs which do not concern you and Skerrit.
Are Vince not ashamed that in the twenty-first century, when people want to defecate in the middle of the night, flood or hurricane they have to go outside and squat over a pit-hole, that when they discharge their feces, dirty feces water splashes upon their gluteus (their behind)?

While the recommendation for an inter-ministerial committee on climate change is to be welcomed, would it not have been even more inclusive to invite the private sector to contribute. From what we have seen of the performance of the public sector to deal with natural disasters, especially following tropical storm ‘Erika’, the public sector does not seem to have the resources or ability – professional or otherwise- for one reason or the other, to deal expeditiously and comprehensively with such situations. Too often, workshops such as those provide a forum for much talk and little follow-up action. It now remains to be seen how quickly action will be taken to implement the suggestions and recommendations made.

The private sector and the citizens of Dominica has nothing to contribute, since Dominica contributes nothing to global warming.
The offending nations are already identified: china is the major contributor, and cause of Global warming. Henderson and Skerrit and the rest ….. you see in the picture are simply looking out for themselves’. Rather than Skerrit sitting on his behind with his smiling face, and devious cynical eyes, doing nothing.
The man should be negotiating with some wealthy nation to lend him the money to build an International Airport in the country, so that our people could free themselves from the shackles of LIAT: Nevertheless, no one wish to do any business with Skerrit, because he is too controversial, no one respects him because he is noted as the most corrupt politician in the entire Caribbean.

I’m yet to see a country with so many policies that they could build the world’s biggest reference library on policies. Policies, Polices and more Policies which are just accumulating dust on the policy shelf. Now what good are those policies if they never see the light of day and are not ulilised to between the lives of the Dominican population.
All these fanciful words used in order to bamboozle and confuse the minions who don’t understand what really needs to be done.
All talk and no action is already taking it’s toll on this country. Sooner or later,hopefully sooner,Dominicans will realise that these men have been taking them for a ride and who knows,maybe just maybe they will decide to do something about these Machiavelian men.
