The Dominican public is being invited to a free premier screening of ‘The Cove’ at the UWI auditorium tonight.
The event, which is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m., will also feature an official unveiling of the ‘Curtain of 2,000 Origami Whales for Dominica.’
Since its release last year, ‘The Cove’ has received 45 awards and honors, as well as the just announced Academy Award Nomination for Best Feature Documentary (winner to be announced 7 March).
Peggy Oki, Environmental Artist from California and Coordinator of the Origami Whales Project, has been working with students in some Dominican schools to create the “Curtain of 2,000 Origami Whales for Dominica”. This public environmental artwork will remain in Dominica as a symbol of commitment by “The Nature Island” to protect whales.
A question and answer period, moderated by environmentalist Atherton Martin, will immediately follow the screening.
