The Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) is dismissing claims that they are tight-lipped on certain moral issues which some say are plaguing the society.
Executive Member of the DAEC, Pastor Marcus Francis, said the church has been very vocal on other issues of morality in Dominica.
“The church is not silent on other moral issues,” he stated at a press conference on Wednesday. “The church may not speak in forums where they are heard in the public but the church is not silent on moral issues.”
He noted that if there is going to be a change in society, there must be a change of heart. “We believe if you are going to have a changed society you need to have changed hearts because it is the heart of man that is evil,” he stated. “The only way you can have a changed heart is through Jesus Christ.”
Francis noted that the church recognises it has a role to play “like other institutions and each institution is playing its role and we are doing ours.”
Francis said there are quite a number of churches in Dominica and if they are visited, one will see “ministers of the gospel preaching against the evils and against immorality.”
The church has been speaking for years , with open invitation to all freely , but some people were wise to take heed while others chose otherwise . However in times like these it just right to make greater use of , the radio , the newspaper, television , and the internet , which without a doubt , some have been utilizing already

“Caribbean governments are totally willing to talk about human rights, they want to give a good show on the issue, but they repeatedly prove unreliable in giving any teeth to those ‘commitments’”, said Colin Robinson, Secretary of the Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities (CariFLAGS), a 16-year-old indigenous LGBTI network which has recently set up offices in Castries, Kingston, Port of Spain and Santo Domingo. “The creation of Caribbean societies was founded on the persistent violation of human rights”, he said. “Postcolonially, Caribbean nations ought to be among the most visionary and eager champions of human rights. But when it comes to letting our people be free to enjoy their bodies with dignity, we’re clinging to pre-Emancipation practices, and proud to remain at the bottom of the class in the Americas.”
To be fair, the homosexual group addressed the issue to the Dominica Catholic Church. Furthermore there were many comments from Dominicans in general. The evangelical church probably did not find it necessary to respond and to duplicate their views. In this case, you should consider this and excuse them.

II believe my people have this all mixed up. Firstly The Lord has given us free will. With this we have to decide for ourselves if we will accept or reject Jesus Christ as our Saviour. The Bible clearly states and please allow me to paraphrase that each man MUST work out his salvation for himself. Secondly we have been given by God ordained minister to aid us on our walk with God. It is true that they “should” be examples to the church but let us not forget that being a Christian does not make you less human. As a matter of fact the life of a minister is quite a challenging one. Sadly some fall under the weight. We cannot depend solely on these men for spiritual guidance. We need to develop a relationship with God and ask him for a spirit discernment. Help us to understand his word and to use it to make sound moral decisions. I applaud the efforts of ALL the spiritual/religious leaders of Dominica. The calling on your life is not an easy task. Continue to fight for our land. Give no place to the devil.
So many marijuana users are persecuted and actually being jailed and imprisoned daily, I don’t hear such outcry as I am reading hear from supporters of this nasty act some have also chosen to do. Legalize or decriminalize weed before this thing.

The apostle John said Jesus came to His own–and Jesus’ own in those days were the assembly of Israel, the Israelites were under the rule of Rome–that is where the politicians belong–Roe belonged with the group of “Gentiles” not Jews.
Jesus came to bring Salvation to people who would believe in His death and resurrection; Jesus was about peace and unity for all people–the flocks of sheep which He said would come to belong in one fold and they would have One Shepherd.

Pastor Marcus, with all due respect to you, what you have said here and nothing are the same. You had a golden opportunity to state a position as the Bishop did. Did you read the Bishop’s statement on the matter at hand. It was a principled position, well constructed and laced with prudence. You had a chance to do the same. We in the evangelical arena must be better read and avail ourselves to the opportunity to educate the public especially when they are listening. The question remains “What is your position of discrimination leveled against homosexuals?” And remember these persons are part of your congregation and sometimes serve in church leadership.

If I have proper understanding, Pastor Marcus is responding to a question on the perception that the Church is silent on issues of morality. I think there is a big disconnect….Most people who have commented on the buggery issue seem to believe that if the laws are repealed there will be an increase in gay sexual activity in the public. This is not going to happen. Adultery, fornication, lust and greed; all of these are sins. Dominicans seem to forget about these things, and all the other ills that plague society. Only homosexuality is a sin. Biblical law cannot be used as a basis for secular law. Not everyone is Christian, some people align with different religious affiliations, and there are others who are not religious at all. Why should what you believe be used to legislate what some us don’t believe in. Why is it selective belief/only parts of the bible should be applicable as law? As others have mentioned, slavery is endorsed in the bible (multiple places too). Why not make that part of the law, why not prohibit adultery and fornication by law. You are not the only people in the world, everybody cannot be like you. Learn to respect others for who they really are, human rights shouldn’t be for a select few.

First of all Christianity is not a religion, it a personal or intimate Love relationship with God, Eternal Sprit, who is Christ in the Man Jesus.
It was religion and its rules which ignited the desire of God’s own chosen people–the Children of Israel to call for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, who was the Emmanuel, meaning God with us in the flesh –because He would not bow down to their religious rules and regulations
We hear God lamenting about His chosen people, when He said: “These people honor Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me and in vain they worship Me teaching as doctrines the commandments of men”
This Scripture is spoken in the Old Testament of the Bible through the Prophet Isaiah, and Jesus repeated it in the New Testament–that is to tell you that God wants nothing to do with the work of religion and rules or laws.
Religion was born through the wisdom and understanding of man–it is unfortunate that many of the Churches still cling to the things of religion–just like in the old days–that is because those people lack knowledge of God, claiming to believe in Him without putting their fait to work. But without faith we cannot know what is the good, acceptable, and perfect Will of God that we might do it and live.
But God said they are worshipping Him in vain through their religious practice. He said that religion and it works are the commandments of men–they are not from Him
God is Spirit; He is the Living God in His Person of Love, who is Jesus Christ and Christians ought to worship Him in Spirit and Truth–religion has nothing to do with the Spirit.

However, you all deserve to be rebuked openly because clearly, as church based organization, you have failed to represent the voice of the church and your presence in politics is seen much more than in the voice of the church. For example, the nation saw pastors like yourself and Bill Daniel along with other pastors, dressed in red Tshirt attending a DLP convention? Furthermore, during the last election, some of you pastors either closed the church on Sunday Morning to attend a DLP convention while others had an early morning short service. What a testimony! Furthermore, since the last election, the integrity of those in authority was being questioned many times and you Never said a word.
Moreover, as bad and ungodly as homosexuality is, we must also remember that with God all sins are equally wrong and the job of the church has always been to first of all, live righteously and then preach righteousness. How can we as a church condemn homosexuality so forcefully (although I believe it is devilish and animalish) while we bless murderers? By this I mean, we remember how a young mother brutally murdered two of her children; what did the church say or did to address this ungodly deed? I know it was a difficult time for all and I can understand giving spiritual support at that time. In fact, the funeral and burial was handled by these same gentlemen and yet they never publicly addressed it. The person in question somehow never served time in prison and was allowed to leave Dominica. Did the church condemn injustice?
I have many more questions but knowing how DNO is so concerned about lawsuit, I will hold my peace for now. But plz gentlemen, your move here is not about the kingdom of God but partisan politics. PM Skerrit, whom one of your members who was at that time a preacher, referred to as jesus; since you never condemn that, I have to assume that you all hold the same view, is about to call an election, and you all are just using the bible to campaign for Skerrit as you did the last time.

What proof are you looking for exactly?
You see, when it comes to proof and evidence, the closest thing we can get to, is what a lawyer calls proof beyond reasonable doubt (apart from mathematics, but that is another story). What this means is that when we are asked to “prove” something, what we need to do, is only provide enough evidence to convince someone that a certain claim is true.
For example, I cannot prove to you that my wife loves me. But what I can do is give you the evidence of 11 years of marriage and all the things she has said and done to give you proof that it is true. You then need to make a choice based on my evidence.

God alone can prove Himself to you, but you have to choose to want Him to do so. And the reason you do not believe is because you are a natural man who has chosen in your mind “not to believe” you made that decision since you were 6 years old-

Did you know that less than 100 years ago “science” said there was no beginning? They told us matter always existed. Yes, this was actually the “scientific” position. Of course Christians knew better, and there were born again scientists who smiled and waited. Then came the “big bang theory” and shook the conventional wisdom of “science” to its very foundations.
Do you know that in the USA 44% of Ph.D. scientists now attend church on a regular basis? This does not make them Christians but it does suggest that they believe in God.
I recommend that you read the book entitled CREATION by Grant Jeffrey, Ph.D. Dr. Jeffrey presents the case for creation as opposed to evolution. Also read THE SIGNITURE OF GOD and THE HANDWRITING OF GOD by the same author.

Does he honestly expect the general public to believe that church speaks on other issues besides homosexuality? If they do not speak in public – then why now? hypocrites! If its good to speak in public on this issue then do it for all issues.
Speak on child molestation and abuse, speak on corruption and victimization, the list goes on and on.

If you listen to certain programs, then albeit you won’t hear the church speaking on the other ills. Start listening to all the programs especially those with the Evangelists. Stop looking at too many movies and look at the programs on the Television and I am sure that you will have a change of heart. There are too many preachers preaching the word of God and speaking about all the ills you mention. But as everything else, the persons who speak so are only saying those things without facts. The facts are there but those same persons are listenning to the things of the World. And when Pastors or other messengers come on the Internet or on the news they are the same ones who bash and criticise those same ones who are continuously speaking about the ills and about salvation.
But you know they want the Pastors, Evangelists to be in the places that the world condones – maybe in a Carnival Band, or in a dance where the “Enemy” is glorified in songs and dance. Then what will they say …. Isn’t he a Pastor.
Man, Woman, Young people, Children tune in to the correct channel not the carnal minded ones. Tune in to the Radio where the messages are preached. Go to one of the Evangelical Churches and listen to the word of the Lord.
Then and only then, you can attest to the fact.
My comment above is for all the “Dissidents” and “evolved”, all the political ones who do not see objectively and who uses excuses for satisfying their own selfish means. The word of God shall prevail over the word of man. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord and he will Judge. Gossiping, saying things withour proof, Wisdom is what is needed for everyday living and wisdom comes from the Creator. Also there is the Holy Spirit who leads those in Christ into the truth. The Enemy is also a confuser who works upon the mind of us who are opened to him without Christ Jesus. “The Enemy of our soul” is the accuser of the Brethren and he accuse them daily just as he uses many persons to accuse the brethren just as he is doing daily.
The word will be preached in season and out of season. He who hears let him hear but it is a pity that some do not hear and will look for excuses. The word of God will prevail through the mouth of his servants. We should not raise against the Lord’s annointed …. Numbers 12 is a fine example of what happens to those who questions the Lord about the appointment of his annointed. I would ask you to read that chapter and then you will be humble and pray for the annointed people and Leaders instead of viifying and speaking against such persons. God Blessings to you all.

Personally I speak AND write on all these subjects. The authority for what I say is the Bible, the inspired Word of God. All sin is sin so it should not be considered strange if a pastor, Bible teacher, or evangelist makes mention of the subjects you have mentioned over time. However, homosexuality is in a class by itself for two reasons. (1) It is a sin against nature according to Romans 1:26,27 and (2) It is an assault on the model or blueprint God gave us for marriage according to the words of Christ Himself in Matthew 19: 4-6.
Many people do believe what the Word of God says!
What GOD says about homosexuality is found in Romans 1:26,27, 1 Corinthians 6:9.10, 1 Timothy 1:9,10, and Jude vs. 7.
People are wise to listen to God. Homosexuals are known to have more mental health issues, higher rates of alcoholism, AIDS, and suicide. They also have a shorter life span.

What is all u position on de G.O.N Emmanuel issue that dividing our nation perhaps beyond repair? If one of ur clergy members house attacked like dat u would have not be silent when u see justice not being done. An elderly couple attacked and none of u including de organization for de elderly has spoken about it publicly but when u hear de word buggery u stand up fast. And u couldn’t even do it with solidarity and support of de leaders of de churches who not part of ur group.

Where is GOD? If anyone can prove GOD exists I would give them a million dollars. Physical proof not something that is felt. We feel many things doesn’t mean it is GOD.

It is easy if he exist there would not have been so much pain in this world. The countries who are doing well are not christian nations with the exception of American(technically). Western Europe is not christian as much as they introduced it to us, Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Thailand and I could go on none of these countries are not christain focused or not not all as we are. The countries that are doing badly or regions, Africa, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Whys is God not blessing these places like he is blessing those who are singing his praises. Dear friend may I suggest to you that you need not offer a millions dollars for proof that God (Jehovah Sabaoth – The Almighty One) is real. May I suggest to you this one thing, Search the scriptures for yourself, for in them the Bible says we have eternnal life. May I also remind you that the Bible says “without faith it is impossible to please God” but Faith comes by Hearing and hearing the word of God. This statement actually goes against the topic of the article “The church may not speak in forums where they are heard in the public but the church is not silent on moral issues.”…Why can’t the various religion unite and march the streets in order for their voices to be heard..not everyone goes to church so the message won’t be heard..we need to put stickers on our cars, bring back the bible in both private n public school…preaching it in church just isnt enough
I’m with you on that we the people have to first make changes to how we conduct ourselves and by that we should be showing guidences to our children especially during the times we are living in we need to go back to the reading of the bible We need our preachers to come out and speak about the issus the plague us and stop hiding Jesus spoke publiclly so as a man of God you should speak openly dont be embarassed for their are those who will say no dont give in chruches are empty because their is nothing to hold us captive we are hungry for the word of the almighty God so start doing the work .

That is the whole point, God has already decided what is acceptable that is why it is necessary to be transformed by the renewing of your mind to KNOW the PERFECT and ACCEPTABLE will of God. Only an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ will change our hearts toward God. There is no such thing as a “Good Christian homosexual”. It is no different than saying a “good Christian adulterer”, or a good christian fornicator or a good christian murderer. I pray you will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

A changed heart is aligned to Christ and cannot be aligned to sin – . Christ came to the World in the form of human so he could die for us. He was a sinless man. The Enemy is raging so he uses our minds to confuse us and he sows the seed of sinful nature into us. So a good Christian heart cannot change to Homosexual through Christ but by the Evil One whose job is to steal, kill and destroy. But Christ died for us that we may have life and have it abundantly. Universally immoral – The world does things which are not in conformity with the word of God. The Earth and the fullness belongs to the Lord. The Lord is Supreme so his commandments are supreme and one should obey. It is either God or Satan.
Romans 12.2 says this 2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”
