Employees of FLOW Dominica are meeting with the company’s top management this morning to discuss matters of concern to them.
General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU), which represents FLOW workers, Thomas Letang, confirmed that staff was meeting with the company’s regional management to discuss “some anonymous letter that was written to them with regard to the treatment of staff at Lime [FLOW].”
He said in an interview on Q95’s Hot Seat this morning, that the DPSU felt that this would be a good time have all issues affecting FLOW staff addressed.
“So what we have asked them to do is to report for work. So they are not on strike; they have reported for work. They have entered Lime’s premises; they are at work but they are assembling in the meeting room and they will be there until 10:00 0’clock,” Letang said.
According to the DPSU boss, some issues of concern have to do with the status of the employees of the FLOW Retail Shop as part of the Collective Bargaining Unit. Letang says this matter which should have been resolved in January 2018, is still outstanding. Another issue, he says concerns the technical staff who, as members of the bargaining unit, were issued with individual contracts instead of letters of employment which the Union has recommended.
Letang maintains that the terms and conditions of the individual contracts are different from what would obtain if they were all treated as part of one collective bargaining unit.
A visit by DNO to the FLOW Retail Shop about 10:00 o’clock this morning revealed that customers were being served.
DNO will seek FLOW management on the matter.
Very well stated jj
FLOW employees should first improve their customer service, their diligence and manners, review their attitude and remember that we as customers are paying their wages. FLOW employees display the most arrogant, careless and often rude behavior whilst on duty, being a customer of C&W/ LIME/ FLOW is just a pain due to their careless and ignorant employees.
This sound like a smokeless gun shooting blanks. What are the issues, the concerns. Most unions are concerned with conditions at work : Place of work, respect, discrimination, harassment, discrimination, vacation, sick leave, promotion, training and salary. So which one is it Mr Latang. Or is this an other episode of gainsmanship to grab headlines. An effort to harass an employer to create conflict. The same game he is playing with the CSA and the nurses. Maybe Flow will close down and fade away from Dominica
What we need now in Dominica is friendly and cordial relationship between employer and employee for the country to move forward, not conflict, not political polarization to stifle investment and employment.
In many countries this association is like family relationship
joseph john you know not of what you speak, please just shut up!!!
Shut up corrupt little man! Since you don’t have anything of value to contribute on here I suggest you get out of here.

There are some of the issues in case you missed them in the article. You sir are the one bringing politics into the matter, it was not mentioned before you mentioned it. You are asking what are the issues when they were very clearly stated, or at least some of them.
So how is that an issue? Individual contracts as a form of employment is normal in labour procedures. There can even be employment at will. So you confirm that contracts were issued.
Were the contracts signed and agreed to by both parties, employer and employees? Were the contracts legal, legit. If the matter is of law take it to court, breach of contract or agreement.
When you take it to the public arena in the media you make it a political matter. Mr Latang’s tract record as I pointed out above is the case in point.
As for making it political…that’s my democratic right, my legal right, my freedom of expression right. I will not be intimidated by your name calling, no name friends above.
