It is sad when anyone fall ill in this country. There is little facilities available for their treatment. Since in the last decade the government is more interested in building fancy palaces to host presidents instead of equipping hospitals to take care of them and other citizens.
Most people will never visit the palace, but most Dominicans will visit the hospital even if is to be born alone.
That same hospital has been in Dominica for a long time. Remember when the UWP increased hospital fees and pregnant and other patients had bills in the hundreds of dollars after spending little time at that hospital? Speak about those days too.
idiot
@ orchid,
You are so correct, but bear in mind:
1. UWP did implement some petty user fees in other to provide for funds to maintain and equip this very hospital.
2. back then the the infant mortality rate was much lower.
3. there was also less incidence of malfunctioning x-rays, ct scan,
4. most of your lab test was done at PMH. which is much cheaper than private.
5. ministers and big-shots were not kept in the maternity ward.
and the least goes on and on. When the labour came in power they had the opportunity to trash the user fee, but 13 years later it is still in place with less benefits to the patients.
And for your information the user fee program was based on a study/report that was commissioned by the previous freedom party government. They did not get the chance to implement it, since the lost elections in 1995. So UWP was basically continuing the programs of its predecessor instead of trampling on it as is the practice in politically primitive 3rd world regions. Case in point this present regime who balked at many projects started by the UWP.
Further more UWP actions are past tense and can’t be altered, its the present actions of the ruling government that are detrimental and must be changed.
Some of you all don’t know when to make certain comments. Our Former president is at the hospital right now. Let’s wish him a speedy recovery and pray to GOD to give his wife and family strength as they go through this.
Remind them. How soon some people forget.
Sir I wish you well, but my advice to you, and your family, with the quality of health care or lack thereof, that we possess in this country, please find professional help further afield, you will stand a better chance at recovery. I do pray, that our Lord and savior will extend his hands of healing towards you.
Haven’t you heard about the tremendous work the PMH hospital has done in saving people’s lives. Why would people live America and come here for hospital treatment, surgery or otherwise? Ask yourself a simple question.
They come here, simply because it is cheaper. I know Dominicans living in the U.S.A. , who have come to the PMH to have a hysterectomy for instance at the tax payers expense. Believe me, you would not see that with Dominicans living in the U.K.
USA are you trying to say everyone who gets sick in the might USA lives forever and ever. no mater where you are when it’s your time it’s your time. All the money and know how in the World cannot help you then. Stop crying our Country down and help instead.
I agreed with points
Despite the thumbs down, you’ve got a valid point USA. That was my immediate thought also. Too many times have I read about an individual being admitted to PMH “with a minor/brief illness” followed by their demise.
You think so? Do you really know what you are stating? I have known some people in Canada who got sick. They went to the hospital and did not survive. Admitting them is another story. They sit in the admission room for hours prior to being admitting. A few did not even survive the waiting. Everyone has a life span. The U.S. is no exception.
When we goes away for treatment you will say he doesnt trust his own hospital then skerrit name will be in it sort.
Hope you get well soon Uncle.
Pure love, you,
Roy
I pray for his speedy recovery and that in his illness he would come to grips with himself and bow before the Lord Jesus Christ whom to know is life eternal.
Uh oh. Hope he makes a speedy recovery. Positive thoughts and prayers going out to him.
Get Well Soon.
Best Regards
I wish you the best of health, Sir, however, I am concerned about your privacy. I hope you wont undergo a similar fate like a Minister of Government who was placed at the maternity ward.
Get well.
