Francesco Corallo placed on INTERPOL most wanted list

Photo of Corallo released by INTERPOL

A man whom Dominica has sought to be its permanent representative to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), has been placed on INTERPOL’s most wanted list.

Francesco Corallo is wanted in Italy for organized crime/transnational crime and fraud, according to INTERPOL’s ‘most wanted’ webpage.

This is not the first time the Italian has popped up on the radar screen of law enforcement officials.

On November 10, 2011, Italy’s Guardia di Finanza (the financial unit of the tax police in Rome) raided the home and office of Corallo while investigating a questionable US $200 million loan from the Roman Banca Popolare to gaming giant Atlantis/Betplus.

Corallo was described as the ‘beneficial owner’ of Atlantis/Betplus by the Italian media.

However when his home was being raided Corallo claimed diplomatic immunity on the grounds that he was an ambassador to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the Commonwealth of Dominica.

But the matter took a twist when the FAO office in Rome declared it did not know Corallo. In a statement released to the Italian press in November last year the FAO said Corallo “is not the organization’s permanent ambassador for the Commonwealth of Dominica.”

The Italian press further reported the Italian Foreign Ministry as saying that Corallo could not have been  FAO ambassador because he was conducting economic activities in Italy and it would be “inappropriate for someone with business interests in our country to enjoy diplomatic immunity.”

In a release to the media in November 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dominica confirmed that Corallo was being sought to be the island’s permanent representative at the FAO and the proposed appointment “was guided by standard policy.”

The ministry said the release was being sent because “negative comments are being promulgated with respect to the character and integrity of an Ambassador Designate of Dominica to the Food and Agricultural Organization, FAO.”

Meanwhile Corallo, who is believed to be in St. Maarten, said in a statement which was mailed during the past few days to a St. Maarten media house, that he sent a letter to the Attorney General of that country, Taco Stein, indicating his willingness to cooperate with law enforcement on the island since he is a Dutch citizen.

According to the media house  Corallo said that the accusations and warrant in Italy are specifically for “conspiracy and intent of corruption of a private individual” which according to him, is not a recognized crime in St. Maarten and most other countries of the world.

Corallo is reported as saying that the accusations made against him in Italy are “false and unfounded.”

So lemme ask you a question…

It was reported that our diplomatic passports are being issued to persons of dubious character.

The apologists of the DLP, came out in full swing attacking everyone.

Today, we are now learning that one of the main characters whose name came up in the past is now on Interpol’s most wanted list.

Isn’t it good news to learn the TRUTH?

Since when TRUTH REVEALED is a bad thing? How can it be bad news for us to learn truth about something the politicians LIED about?

    DNO….

Is that picture of Francesco Corallo supposed to be the same Francesco Corallo you have pictured in this article: https://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/politics/the-establishment-of-a-permanent-mission-of-dominica-to-the-fao/

That lookslike 2 different people to me. That’s my first observation.

My second observation is whether Mr. Francesco Corallo WAS APPOINTED/ or given clearance by Italy to be the Permanent Representative of Dominica to the FAO.

In the abve linked article, it seems that such clearance wasn’t given and no final determination was made back then

Is this an issue where Dominican ALMOST aligned itself with this man,and made him “the Permanent Representative of Dominica to the FAO” or is he in fact “the Permanent Representative of Dominica to the FAO”…because, there is a difference.

I’m just asking questions – don’t bite me.

It is goong to take more time than should be , but little by little these corrupt, small time politicians and their associate are going to get their time in court.
Most Dominicans are not even paying heed to these very important events that may directly affect their lives in the near future.
The more we tell them that the New DLP Administration is not good for D/ca the more they duck their heads in sand. It’s all about “once I am getting my share I do not worry about what they do.”
We need more interlectuals in this Gov’t who can advise on the evils out there.
I am applealling to Dominicans to come out and let us stop this DLP from selling our country to corrupt men with cash in their hands.
Now let us see if they wil blame INTERPol!!

I am choosing not to read the other comments and just ask one question. Why? As in why post this article on DNO and why the sensational headline? It does not do any good to us and it shames me as a Dominican to see such an article online. It might be able to stay on the local press but why should we, as Dominicans be the ones to put it out there?
Makes no sense to me. I think we should choose which articles we publish. It is not only about the readers, it is also about Dominica and what is best for our island nation.

      August 8, 2012

It is not we that put it out there. This person is posted on the official Interpol site (www.interpol.int) under the heading:
      Wanted Persons
with an appeal for for information (as to his whereabouts).
Wanted for:” Organized crime/ Transnational crime/ Fraud, Fraud”
with a request to contact your local police or Interpol direct.
This is the man, who was proposed as our ambassador at the FAO by our Govt. and issued with a diplomatic passport. This is already in the public domain and you want to sweep it under the carpet? What impression does such an attitude give to the outside world you seem to care about so much?

Those the saying is, it is never too late, however i am saying that it is too late now to ban/stop the selling of DA’s passport, they are already all over the place in the hands of all sorts of people, mafia, organized crime, terrorist etc

Too late is out cry and this is the cry of us Dominicans at home and abroad

Many Dominicans are sufferi8ng due to the visa the Canadian government enforced on our country, all in the name of selling Dominica’s passport

It is worst now that it was in the past wonder how those involved with the sale of the passport sleeping knowing that our sovereignty is being sold to criminals

DNO, please don’t be too happy to report Italian Political Gabbage nuh
    and Interpol

    Please read

Oxford-based Benny Wenda, 37, leads a political movement for the independence of his native West Papua, an Indonesian province on the island of New Guinea.

The red notice, which meant he could be arrested and possibly extradited from any one of Interpol’s nearly 200 member states, was issued at the request of Indonesia last year.

The country wants Mr Wenda to stand trial for a number of crimes he is alleged to have committed in West Papua, including arson and murder, but which he has long insisted are trumped-up charges intended to silence him.

Jago Russell, of the campaign group Fair Trials International, announced yesterday that Interpol had agreed that Indonesia’s case against Mr Wenda was “predominantly political in nature”.

“Interpol should be used to fight serious crime but Indonesia has been misusing it to threaten a peaceful political activist,” he said. “We are delighted that Interpol has now woken up to this abuse, but Benny’s case is not unique and safeguards are needed to stop other countries misusing Interpol and destroying lives and reputations in the process

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve. Are you insinuating that some malicious entity is using Interpol to try to destroy Corello? By the way why are you so much in defense of Corello. I hope this is not about the boxes of cheap clothes that he sent to Dominica as a gesture of appreciation. On a serious note what has Corello done for us other than to bring shame and disgrace to a country struggling to maintain a clean image.
Appologists like you were more than happy to give credence to Interpol when SKERRIT and TONY claimed that they verified that Dawood nor Karan Singh was on the Interpol list.
Stop this foolishness and start putting your country first instead of lying , thieving politicians and lawyers

It is DOMINICA we are talking about, not Indonesia! Your attempt at diverting the focus is so crude it beggars belief. It is DOMINICA that is in the spotlight here.

What does the Economic Citizenship Program has to do with the appointment of an Ambassador to the FAO, who after due deligence by the Italian Foriegn Ministry declined his appointmenty?

@ Joe You are so enslaved that you do not even know it. Are you one of the crumb pickers from under your God (Skerrit’s)table. If you are not you are surely one of the lazy sluggards climbing steps after steps after steps to go and kneel to your God at the Red Clinic. Or maybe you are one of the party cronies who do not care a da- about the country, but cares 100% about your pocket. So what else can level headed Dominicans expect from you.The fact is though that this regime is in bed with people like them, and the country is plunging into poverty while all this is happening.
Stop comcentrating on Lennox, concentrate on what the hell has happened to Dominica that has caused it to be so dam poor and backward under the Skerrit cabal.

Seem to me that you Joe are the one who is mentally enslaved. Masa can do no wrong. What is wrong with the ECP is the corruption by politicians, lawyers , cabals etc. The Corrello revelation should be a wake up call for enslaved minds like your Joe. Take the cloud out of your vision. UWP was hammered by the very same party in power for corruption practices including passport sales. Why is it OK now because your party is in power. Remember the Shine Union woman? Yeh she was also manipulating the UWP hugs too. Now we have too many crooks to even keep track off.
