ADNExUS DEMONSTRATES SOLIDARITY WITH OUR FELLOW DOMINICANS BY EARMARKING ALL FUNDS RAISED FROM ITS 5TH ANNIVERSARY CULTURAL AWARDS GALA AND HURRICANE RELIEF DINNER ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, TO THE HURRICANE RECOVERY EFFORT
The Association of Dominicans in the Northeast USA (ADNExUS), has earmarked all funds raised at its 5th anniversary Cultural Awards Gala and Hurricane Relief Dinner to relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria that devastated the island of Dominica last Monday evening.
The members of the Board of ADNExUS are distraught by the news and want to ensure that in keeping with the Association’s objectives, they make a tangible difference to the lives of Dominicans.
According to Sylma Brown, President of the Association, the Gala will proceed as planned and will incorporate as many changes as possible to the program to reflect the pain and despair that we feel for our fellow Dominicans. We will also celebrate our culture because circumstances do not change the reality of who we are as a people. Situations like these call for our community to get together to share information and support each other. That is how the healing begins and this is the first of several fund-raising events that the group will embark upon in the coming months.
