A number of persons who participated in a summer programme introduced by the Adult Education Division displayed their work at an exhibition in Roseau on Friday.
The exhibition is held annually and it took place at the Adult Education Division’s Office and Learning Centre this year.
The event forms part of Adult Education Month observed in September.
Plumbing, cake decorating, sewing, electricity among other skilled work were displayed.
“Today culminates the end of eight weeks of summer courses we do all around the island every year – they are employable skills; everything you can think of,” Acting Adult Education Officer, Francisca Joseph told the media.
According to her, over the years the Adult Education Division has been helping to build the human resource capacity in the various communities by helping people to develop their skills; thereby helping themselves, their communities and Dominica.
She encouraged persons to come in and get an idea of what the Adult Education Division has to offer.
Joseph stated also that registration is opened for new persons who wish to join the programme.
She said a church service is organized for Sunday and will take place at Marigot.
Joseph said further that a number of other programmes are slated for next week including radio programmes.
The theme for this month’s activities is: “Building Communities…Changing Lives.”
The Adult Education Division aims to motivate and stimulate participation of all levels of persons in the community to work toward an intensified Adult Education Programme, to include basic literacy and continuing into life education. Also to provide the necessary expertise relevant to nation building to help people become self- reliant and independent thus improving their standard of living.
